is your server status still showing up as status Unknown? Yes? Well your not the only one, it appears you are one of many, Before posting a response here, please browse through the following threads.
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=540625&page=1 http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=539900 http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=540283&page=1 http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=540010
If you're still receiving status Unknown, then you are in the right place. As a result of the suggestions/opinions in these threads I've decided to start this thread, In light of the fact that CCP isn't offering ANY help on this issue, as a place for those of us who are still receiving the error to try and figure out on our own wth is going wrong through finding commonality(I hope)
Also, Petition if you have'nt done so already, if anything it will make CCP aware of the scope/size of the issue.
Now for finding commonality.
I'll start.
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002; Pentium 4 CPU; 960MB of ram GFX Card: ATI RADEON Xpress 200 series, 256MB ISP and Region: T Mobile(T-online) Deutchland/Germany
Also I would like to credit the following Pod Capsuler(ess) for the creation of this thread.

didnt work for me either, if you check the other threads you will see a post with everything i tried, others have gone so far as to completely remove the client an reinstall multiple times with no success.
also just so people know this is NOT the safari beta issue
the server allows us to autopatch our clients but only ever gives us ststus unknown, its ridiculous.

Reinstalled the eve-client from scratch.
When starting up eve, the eve-client tried to connect itself to sisi (Testserver(singularity)) instead of to Tranquility.
Changed connection to point to Tranquility.
Got status unknown.
Disabled the sygate personal firewall.
Still status unknown.
Recreated in the eve maindirectory, the directories, logs/capture/cache
And in directory logs the subdirs, Marketlogs, Gamelogs, Chatlogs and I got status 29542 players .
Hooray. ;)

Edited by: Spawinte on 20/06/2007 22:18:56 now that was interesting, the subdirectories of my logs folder were missing and i replaced them, i still got status : unknown but at least i've finally got a lead.
i'm just waiting for the client to finish downloading and then i will do a totally clean install and see if that fixes it
thanks bowk

just out of curiosity what message are people getting when they try to log in anyway?
i get "The connection to the server was closed." does anyone get anything different?
I get CONNECTION FAILED Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong. si vis pacem, para bellum

that might mean that my specific inability to log in might be a problem on my end then.
i wonder if my isp has started to block port 26000, they are pretty notorious for traffic shaping. wont be able to check until tomorrow morning when their customer care comes in.
i'll keep trying to fix things anyway just in case i stumble on something

heres the message i get when i try to log in, even though it says "status:unknown"
"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
I've done a fresh install and still have the problem. I've turned off my firewall/antivirus programs and still get "status:unknown" I've deleted my firewall settings for eve and when the game starts up, im not shown a window asking for permission for eve. I've moved eve to another drive and get nothing deleted the cache, nothing. moved it and moved it back, nothing. tried some **** where you add something to the shortcut, nothing. used the "bootstrapper" in the eve folder, several times when the game was in either drive, nothing. I've uninstalled the fresh install and reinstalled, nothing. gone to the eula several times to "accept" but nothing.
The game ran fine up until downtime for the patch, after that i get "status:unknown" while those I know are able to log in without a problem.
I've added NOTHING to my computer since I was last able to play eve, other then the patch.
I'm getting flashbacks of SOE's stellar customer service where i paid a month while being unable to play the damn game while they left me to hang and find a fix on my own. When I start getting signs that this is going soe like then i start itching to cancel and im sure thats not good for bussiness.
I expected some kind of problem but not something like this. Also i expected to hear something by now from CCP.
The problem is that something got changed. SOmething that tells eve to attempt to connect to the internet. Why? Because my Firewall should have asked if EVE is allowed to connect to the net.
What tells me that its not a problem with my computer is EVEMON. EVemon is able to connect to the server and tell me the status of the server. This means my computer is CAPABLE of connecting to the server and its just eve being lazy.
The fact that I still get "status:unknown" when i turn off my firewall says its eve. If it was a problem with the firewall then EVE should have been able to connect.
SO they clearly screwed up something that tells eve to connect to the net. how it changed in my copies is unknown. ALso the fact im not the only one experiencing this suggests that its not specific to my computer.
I have windows XP-pro p4 ,3.06 gigabyte nvidia 6600GT
