Hello, I have searched for an answer to this - I found a brief overview of the specific problem though when I click the link it takes me to a general page of a variety of help guides in game and out of game...
How do I correct this issue? Note: Prior to this recent patch I have played EVE on this computer without issues. Seems after the patch I am unable to get into the game... It states: "Please run EVE with administrator rights to complete data migration." I run Windows Vista and I am set on administrator rights. Thanks

I'm in the exact same boat, but using XP. I logged on earlier today from work and saw someone say that if you manually move your old eve\cache folder to somewhere in your current account's documents and settings folders, AND rename the old cache folder so Eve can't find it, you may be able to get it to work.
Have I tried it yet? No. One reason is because I have about 280MB in the cache directory, and can't believe the devs would be that silly as to have all that data moved to each *personal* account! The second reason is that I am absolutely loath to put stuff on drive c:, which should be the operating system, and nothing more, as far as I'm concerned. Sadly, I did not know there were some command line switches that would prevent Eve from trying to move the files. So now I think I have the files only half migrated.
I'll keep reading, and report back if I give up and try the manual copy method.

HAH! I think I fixed it, for me anyway.
The clue? I still had some pictures in my screenshots directory. As though Eve just couldn't finish the migration job. So, I did something really simple. I went to my original eve folder, and renamed a bunch of directories so Eve simply couldn't find them anymore:
eve\cache (I renamed to cache_<censored>, same with the others below), eve\capture eve\logs
I don't know if it's 100% correct, but I'm in a station looking at my character sheet as I type.
I hope this helps at least SOMEONE! :)

helped me as well, I just lost overview settings (maybe something more, didn't have much time to check), eventhough I copied them back from old cache. But loosing settings is still better then not being able to play at all, right?

This half worked for me. Now I can get to the login screen and input my uer/pass, it then proceeds to login and acquire bulk data but then just sits there and does nothing. The background music happily plays but the game never moves on to the character selection screen.
Any ideas gratefully received.
TIA
