Was hanging out in a low sec sytem doing exploration...taking un-godly amonuts of time to do so just for a arch/sal when i noticed someone else in local. After about 20 minutes and still no luck with the site, i started talking to the only other guy in local chat, who happened to be mining omber. I told him about exploration and he told me about mining, eventually someone else entered system so i told him be careful it was a pirate to get his attention. He told me his ship had warp stabs so he was ok, but he was logging anywayz. I told him i had some spare exploration stuff he could have and to hang out for a minute. Jumped system, switched from helios probe ship to Ishkur, making sure to fit an extra scram. jJumped back into system and told him i also would give him a SS off grid, so we had to gang. He agreed, and i warped us both to a SS away from prying eyes. Immediately i proceeded to scram, web, and nos his covetor, and told him he could either risk his pod too, or eject and he'd be safe to fly his egg away. He ejected, no hard feelings, and i took his ship after SS my own.
End result, 1 hour wasted on exploration site still out there. 10 minutes spent talking to miner to gain his trust. 1 covetor with 3 t2 strip miners, t2 crystals and t2 drones, even icing it with a hold full of gold omber. Total worth, around 80-90mil.
Pew Pew might be more fun, but man, I love Hijacking.

As is said, i like to experience ALL careers. I love pirating, but i also love not being limited to just that. i keep my sec status at around -1.5 so i can still fly empire for miner popping. i fly low-sec, can use covetor with all t2 mods, haulers, whatever. Besides, when the targets begin to trickle into the systems, it's nice to have an alternate income source without needing an alt...

Edited by: Garat Mant on 21/06/2007 17:18:36 Ok how incredibly difficult is it to know:
"If it seems to good to be true, it IS too good to be true"
Maybe on login the Aurora voice should just count down the Rules of EVE:
- Never Fly What You Can't Afford To Lose
- Trust No One
- Set A Long Skill
- If It Seems To Good To Be True, It IS Too Good To Be True
- It Isn't Fair. Deal

Actually, the guy seemed very intelligent. The system is the most deserted system i've ever seen, it's a 0.4 with 2 gates, one leads to another 0.4, the other to a 0.8. There is no station in the system, so really, if you see 2 people in the system at once, it's rare. Though i was lucky to gain his trust so easily, but it's not as simple as you might think. I took the time to discuss exploration and mining with him, i took the time to mention a bounty i collected(explaining my low sec-status), i even took the time to mentin i'd be flying back into system in my ishkur to "mess" with the pirate who entered local. You could say i got lucky, but i KNOW it took a skillful tongue to do what i did, as does my victim. We've actually set eachother to blue now, experiencing the most civilized hijacking i've ever done.

It would have been a mite more interesting if you had perhaps probed down the miner and hijacked him.. Or rushed into his belt and ganked him.. Instead you tricked an idiot miner.. You are XXXhardcore..

I could have probed him, but was easier to get him to come to me, and as for rushing the belt, it's much better to get his ship in a safe-spot. that way i can hijack him and not worry about anyone taking my ship or his, or even interrupting us in the middle.

Personally I think thats a cool story. It's a nice score and so what if he didn't just gank a miner?!? honestly takes more skill and it's just as exciting.
Hell half of you guys would normally be going on about how lame it is to gank a solo miner.

Ah, that puts a different slant on your story. Actually you get extra credit from me for scamming someone who was smart enough to find a good system.
Nice one!
