Ive been away from the game for a while,
Does anyone bring dreads to fleet battles anymore?
Seems like the Moros is the only one worth bring to pvp
Id like to train for dreads, but it seens like their usefulness is being limited to POS Bashing(read:boring)
Even the mention of level 5 missions in the latest patchnotes says they are meant for carriers or small bs ganga (no dreads?)
Feedback? -------

Yes dreads are very much useful for capital ship takendown, and are more and more useful vs super capitals of late.
And moros is good for small gangs more than most due to the drones. But in large scale fleets, it gets marked down as the following:
Moros - Drones are good for every-day stuff, blasters good for close range ganking. Generallu useful for everything, but less useful for POS takedown
Revelation - Great tank, ok dps - Great for POS, not so good at other stuff, but still better than a BS for capital takedown:P
Phoenix - Generally all round, for everything. Selective damage types, ok range, decent tank. HOWEVER - Lag = dead. Unsustainable tank isnt your friend ^^
Naglfar - Apparently the most DPS, but most skill intensive. Mediocre tank, mixed weapons can be tricky to utilize effectively.

And sustainable T2-only and revelation-comparable tank with no CPU problems at all is my friend :D -- This game is still in beta stage |

Edited by: Christopher Dalran on 21/06/2007 14:19:03 Edited by: Christopher Dalran on 21/06/2007 14:18:14 Dreads fight capitals and pos structures (and now attackable outpost services), they dont do well against even battleships (unless not in seige mode and the BS gets webbed/target painted). Any mission containing capital ships or structures could probably benefit from using a dreadnaught.
The moros is a little different, it gets excellent drone bonus's however it takes a LONG time to target anything other than capitals/structures in a Dread which makes sending your drones after specific targets somewhat difficult. Unless you want to fit a full rank of Sensor boosters and pray you do not get damped the drones main use is to attack smaller ships foolish enough to aggress you (drones auto defend).
Stat wise it might seem like the moros can take down any group of smaller ships with its drones however because of the locking time (and all the quarks that come along with drones) your more likely to have all your drones spread out and all attack different targets. A lone moros will get raped by a decent sized gang in smaller ships.
I'm against balancing based on PvE, PvP balance should be prioritized since little triggers can be added to any mission to make it harder if triggered. ------------------------------- C.D's Formula for success ------------------------------- Credit Card = Game Time Card Gametime Card = ISK Therefore Credit Card = ISK.

I believe you get some problems sustaining tank while in siege mode. Unless of course you use no hardeners at all.
I pew therefore I am.

I'm not entirely sure where did naglfar uberdps myth came from. It's quite crappy unless perhaps with shield tank and only dmg mods in lows. -------- I tanked D2 capital fleet and all I got was truncated Erebus mail.

Unfortunately, rather than address the slot layout/tanking issues for Minmatar the Devs have simple declared that it makes us "versitile".

Yea its the issue with dreads, u will more likely use them only for pos takedown, how bout a combat siege module, would work like siege but would be making dread into anti-bs machine, so improve tracking a bit, a lot lower dmg bonus and there you go, dread that is worth bringing into fleet battle. ---

From what ive heard, the payout for lv 5's is crap, and therefore pointless to do. And Capitals arent even able to go on most.
And in any case, carriers would be far more useful - And again, seeing as how dreads dps and tank is only there due to the siege mod, i highly doubt they're any good.

Edited by: Sokratesz on 28/08/2007 14:14:58 It's easy to permarun the tank on a phoenix..
3x launcher 1x siege mod 1x capital booster, 2x boost amp, EM/KIN/THE hardeners, INV field 5x CPR 3x ccc rig
Will run in siege too, with good skills.
