This brick was amazing - caressing and leaping
and spilling and whispering,
or so said the poets,
and like a sponge, it absorbed every mood I threw at it,
which is why it is read...
Yes, I meant 'read', for passers-by would stop and read the red brick,
page by page,
and yes, it does bother me, since it is my moods that are being read,
but not as bothersome as people asking me to 'toss another mood' at the brick,
thinking it is some kind of fascinating and unusual circus act...
So I take aim at the brick and let go another mood,
which it absorbs like a sponge;
and the people clap and hop with glee
(which is far better than their making snide, sneering remarks,
let me tell you!)...
I call the brick 'that mood brick',
or 'the book brick' since little stories accompany the moods...
Moods and stories.
Next thing you know it will be lusting after another brick...
and not just to create a popular story, either!
I do feel pity for it's romantic deprivations...
(and yes, I have tossed plenty of pity its way)...
Do I cherish the brick? Hmmm...
Well, if you call leaving it at the construction site 'cherishing'...
but I do go back to it, nearly every day...
I really should take it home...
maybe give it some chicken soup...
and watch the Wizard of Oz with it.
I think it would like that.
Then leave it in the garden...
I will go back tomorrow...
