I'm not sure if its an alt of Sirmolle's, but that was not the character that was in the avatar when it was popped. The characters name was "Shrike." I downloaded the video.
**EDIT***
I just found the direct link to download the Fraps video.

Honestly i dont. But anyone losing a titan unless they had a VERY good reason (sounds like someone just forgot to wait another minute or two. Not that good of a reason imo) They probably would be booted. Unless they were the CEO. Granted i am going just by this thread and not really reading it but hey. Why you ask? If you have 2, they both jump in, one DDD's, and they both wait. If hostiles show up, they still have to deal with the 2nd titan's DDD. Or it means the hostiles need to pop the titan in 5 min, or get DDD'd :)
Or in 3 packs, useing the same senario.

All this is irrelavant unless Shrike is SirMolle's alt.
Maybe you forget that the odds were over 3 to 1. He still popped a good amount of ships with his DD. He just didnt wait to use it until he had to.
What your saying is, if he used it when all the dreadnaughts and carriers finnally got to the scene, things may have turned out differently. BUT. The dreadnaughts and carriers wouldnt have shown up in the first place if they knew that the titan could use his DD.

It was 180 vs 10. If the 180 had lost, people would be saying it was too strong. It takes dozens of dictor pilots, dozens of dreads, and a hundred support ships to take out a titan and all of the sudden, they're glass cannons?
You sort of proved my point there. With poor planning, the Titan becomes a glass cannon, as we all saw. It shot, it killed, it got killed because the support fleet sucked.
If a Titan pops a DDD after Rev II, it becomes a delicious target, simply because it's stuck for ten minutes. Meaning it now needs a large support fleet to live or it's a large glass cannon.
bob alt ? and now i supose want titan nerfed again... titan is fine as it is now... get suport in when using those big ships.. and plz stop wehinig with alts, it look so bad.

What's the recycle timer on the DDD? An hour?
If they are flown in pairs and triples.. wouldn't that be a bad thing?
Sure the damage that all 3 DD's can put out would be substantial... but say you had a triple titan fight.. wouldn't each titan would have to be able to tank the damage of the other 2?
Can 2 DD's cause some decent damage to a titan? Can 2 consecutive DD's be too much for a titan being attacked, tank?
Modern analogy... Can 2 battleships effectivly support each other or wouldn't it be better to use 1 BS and support ships rather then 2-3 battleships with support when all 3 BS's have good chance of majorly damaging the other 2?

No. More like he should of waited till more ships showed up so more players would of been forced to retreat and reload and creating more time to get his ship out of there. I think another minute or two could of made all the difference in the world in this case. Not wiping out every ship in the system. But doing enough damage creating enough chaos to make that 10 minute window too small to coordinate an effective counterstrike. If the player using it is FORCED to doomsday to save is his or her butt its one thing but if he did it for the hell of it then that was a very bad decision. Thats just my opinion on one of those things. But like i said i consider the doomsday to be a defensive weapon not offensive.

He was surrounded by bubbles and wrecks. He couldn't warp either way. If the hundred-odd or so of wrecks from suicide frigs that were surrounding him didnt keep him from warping, the 10 or 15 warp bubbles would have made it a certainty.
He was trapped man. No doubt about that.

start off like this... but with a cyno gen fitted and a second titan in reserve+ capitol fleet..
First one in, has dreads jumped on it, enter siege.... cyno in a second titan to wipe out scrambling fleet then hit the sieged dreads with a secondary fleet...

Edited by: Layla Shai on 23/06/2007 04:59:29 People are more reluctant to put them in a vulnerable position which is good. So far the fights since Rev II have been the best in months. Mostly lag free and enjoyable instead of sit at pos, wait on cap ships, dodge DD, sit in pos. Both BoB and Redswarm feel the same way about this and Im hoping they nerf them even more so the fights can continue.
Also the support was whittled away. The titan was tackled for a lot longer then the 5-6 minutes the dreads were there in the fraps. A huge fleet had to be assembled at a moments notice to do it. The only way this happened is because cap pilots were already logging in to defend pos coming out of reinforced as well as the fact it was right next door to Redswarms main defensive base in the south. Many Goonfleet pilots had time to fly 2 or more ships during the battle.

The lag is alot less serious after REVII. You watch the video on Fraps of the avatar popping, he's got a solid 15-20fps the whole time. And theres 200+ ships in system, plus wrecks.
I really think this update is a great step in the right direction for eve.

I totally agree. All indications so far are that it's an excellent patch (and I swear I'm not just saying that because of the titan kill). But still it puzzles me the way certain people decry the "problem" of blobs instead of the more real problem of lag. It's an attitude that doesn't seem suited to Eve, because the ability to "blob up" is a sign of social, organisational and political success. Money and skillpoints matter, and should matter, or else everyone would just always be flying the best ship in the game (like a giant test server), but I don't think that money and skillpoints should be much more important than the ability to make friends and organise large military forces. If people just want to level up and solo pwn unlimited numbers of lower level players they would probably be better off looking for a different game.

Only problem is the scrambling fleet is on the Titan they are locking down, and the DD doesn't pick sides, just blows up whatever is there. Using the DD, and even smartbombs to free the first titan would just end up killing it faster, and wouldmake for an interesting killmail if they don;t get it out.

The reason people don't like the blob is that they want to be able to fight in something other than a fleet of 500 people.
That is, they want to be able to go find a few friends, fly around in a gang of 10 people, and find other gangs of 10 people to fight... not fleets 6 times their size.
The problem with the blob is that it forces people to join larger and larger forces at the expense of actually having fun. It basically forces people who want to PvP to join up in massive alliances of alliances to fight other alliances of alliances and quite honestly not everyone wants to play that game.

That link doesn't bring up any file. But - if it's a vid of the kill, wow I'd like to see it!
You have to register first, then it works.
Gotta copy paste it sorry. Still didn't work...![Sad](/images/icon_sad.gif)

I honestly, honestly don't understand the constant hate for "the blob". What I dislike is lag. If we could all fight lag free all the time then I would be eager to see battles of thousands vs. thousands on the same grid.
I have had a ton of fun flying both in large scale alliance warfare and small scale pvp ops. I have been able to choose whatever I want in an extremely large alliance. I dont know many people who havent enjoyed large fleet battles. I do know many people who get bored sitting at a pos, watching caps siege, titans DD, lag etc. I know if I was to be left out of large ops like killing a titan or fighting in fleet battles I would be pretty dissapointed and so would many others. The attitude that ****es us off is the one that they should be left at home just because they can only fly a frig. This game is about fun and hearing battle reports of other people having fun while sitting in station sure isnt.
Eve is about making your own fun and too many people forget that. I had more fun trying to kill britishfish in his vaga with a rupture in scalding pass (I lost both times but I think I can take him) then I have in quite awhile. I like Goonswarm because everyone makes the game more fun for those around us for the most part, extending that to allies and others we fly with (or we try at least).
What is noticiable are all the pilots saying how much fun they have had over the last several days, BoB, RA, GS, TCF, ever since the Rev II patch. Dont you think its weired when titans dissapear and people start having fun?
