Hey, i was wondering what settings i should use to get a good output quality for my video using Sony Vegas 7, i have edited all my footage etc etc but when it comes to exporting i struggle, i either lose quality or end up with black around all sides of the video, i wondered if someone could post there export/render settings they use please? i have seen some great videos where the quality is so great it looks like your playing the game.
i have used vegas many a time so i am familiar with edting etc unlike premiere pro, though if i need to use that to get the result i desire i guess i could learn :)
Thanks.

I use same resolution as raw footage, progressive scan, 1.0 pixel ratio and huffyuv for compression. This will result in a rather large file which then can be compressed using Dark Shikaris great tool.
As for the sound u can either include it in the rendering process or just save as a wav file and then mux it with the Autoencoder.

What you need is the HuffyUV codec. It's virtually lossless, but exports into wtfuberhuge files (My last movie at 21 mins (30fps) was 46gb). Then you can compress this using either VirtualDub or Dark Shikari's AutoEncoder (Check the videos forum) for near-lossless results at good filesizes. If you want a hand, add me on MSN ([email protected]) or AIM (lofty290491) and I'll try to help. But I've never used Vegas, so dont expect any help with the program ---

I just installed the XVid encoder and export XVid encoded .avi straight from Vegas. Is that bad? I get good quality out of my vids and the sizes are what you would consider standard.

That's fine I guess, but the ideal way to encode is to export to a lossless file first and then encode with something else; this way you can use programs other than Vegas for compression.
Like the AutoEncoder
(also, WMV is generally preferable to Xvid for EVE videos)
