For a class 1 wh (lowest) - you can honestly do them in a caracal with little to no skills.
I first started on a 14 day trial and was running them with a friend sometimes (in a caracal as well) and sometimes solo. It's not by any means efficient - and it'll take an hour+ per anom with many warp in / outs but you can do it :P
On a more realistic efficient note - If you can fly a drake you're pretty much set for the first footholds of C1's. Fit for more tank and less gank at first to get a feel for what you can take. Slowly add gank .. eventually with skills you should be able to do C1-C2's with relative ease. Once you're in a drake I would train for tengu.
Tengu's can be relatively expensive but if you plan on dwelling in wh space by the time you can fly one properly you should easily have enough cash to buy a couple.
(my main flys caldari - so cant give advice on others but I believe any BC really should be able to handle C1)

I fly Amarr and a well skilled Harby pilot (see t2 modules across the board) can easily solo without warping off c1/c2 anoms. Train t2 Beams and t2 Drones though. That Challenge is the frigs like to be close and the Cruisers like getting far away (see outside of pulse range ) You can uses pulses but you better have a MWD or an AB which makes cap a problem. You take a risk not fitting prop mods in a WH but you can get away with it in a c1/c2 IMO.
Personally becuase I could I have a Dual Web Dual Track PC cap stable Buffer/Active tank Abby to run anoms in a C1. I can do about 5-6 an hour with it without stopping. I can reach ou to 45-50 to pop the long range cruisers but still track down to the 5000m orbiting Watchmen. Its really massive overkill for a WH but the mins to build it were just sitting there and it more then pays for itself and then some every 10 anoms I do and I've done alot.
If you get serious about WHs train for a T3 or a HAC and look up ZEPC we're always looking for folks to fly with. 'perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderit olim'

Apart from the pve standpoint... Don't forget to train some skills related to probing. You need to be able to get in and out in a timely fashion, and once inside, you'll find not much without it.
Also, Salvaging, Hacking and Archeology will come in handy to make the most out of the anoms you might find while probing. |

Living in wh's.....
Skills:
1 social i.e. get some friends in there with you or you are better off running missions alone. 2 probing, get all of em to 4 and make sure you can fly a cov ops with rigs. or you will hate life because of the mandatory daily scanning. 3 make sure you can anchor a pos etc.
Other skills depend on what you want to do in there. My suggestion would be a Drake and salvaging to start with.
If you have friends they can do hacking and archeology and maybe an low sp indy pilot to haul feul...other than that it's all hard work :) |

The probe scanning skills. All of them, preferably to 4, and astrometrics 5. You probably can get away with less, but the aggravation that can be probing with limited skills will be much less. Look to Sisters Core Scanning probes to compliment your probing, yet never to replace skills.
