I don't get it... might be me but can someone explain it to me?
Do I pay credits per second (time) I watch the show or do i pay for the whole show at once....
Next thing happends now... I watch 10 minutes of the show.. and i pay a certain amount of credits for that.. I have to go away for a bit and when i come back i again start watching again.. Now i don't have enough credits to watch it all because i already have to pay for a part that i already payed for...
And what if i want to view it a month later again.. do I have to pay again to watch again??
Please let me know what you think.. ------

You buy credits from the Jalipo company (they suck). You buy credit's in bulk and the credits are removed from your account per minute as you watch the show. Your card is not charged until you buy another bulk load of J credits from Jalipo.
You have to pay to watch the show every time... I'd rather pay a couple bucks a show to download the whole thing... like on iTunes so I can watch it over and over and... or rewind... or fast forward...
We'll see how it pans out.

The whole payment thing was discussed a lot yesterday, and was talked about on the launch party show on siradio last night (i honestly cant remember whether it was live or not when we were talking about it)
Xyliana is aware of the various criticisms and questions about the billing system, and she is looking into different things, itunes style feeds, podcasting, paypal and all manner of interesting and inventive things are under consideration.
Obviously Ill leave it to her to go into more detail as shes the one spending every waking hour (literally, she was in the office till after midnight on her day off ) working on it, and im just a random passer by ;) ...in accordance with the prophecy |

actually, you can. If you want to try it, jump to anywhere on the timeline, it'll rebuffer and continue. Therefore, you do only pay for what you watch, you dont need to start from the beginning.

It definitely doesn't work that way for me, I can reproduce it currently. Any rebuffering drains my Jcredits.

If bandwidth is an issue (though from reading through this thread it isn't specific to bandwidth) why not use p2p such as bit-torrent to release the episodes ?

Because they can't make money from that, and they need money to support the show.

The problem is that if you look at the prices, you notice that the vast majority of the price is paying for the content, not the bandwidth.
But when you watch it again, you pay the price again, not just the bandwidth price, but the full price...

It would be handy if Jalipo kept track of which episodes you watched, and how many credits you have used, so you can watch the episodes again for free. ---

From Jalipo's perspective, every time you watch the show (at 1000k) that's another 250mb of data transferred, which equals more cost (albeit less than a penny unless Jalipo pay extortionate rates for their pipe, unlikely given their quality of service!)
From the users' perspective, NOT having this feature does seriously decrease the value of the product compared to the price paid. If I buy something, I expect to be able to use it whenever I choose. If I can't, the product is worth much less to me. So, "it's only a dollar!" becomes more of an issue, really.
