I was playing rev2 perfectly fine until I installed another client for test. I patched the other client to test, and the test client worked fine, however the TQ client started acting like they are describing. You open the game and see the splash, and then the client itself is completely black, you can move the client, you can close the client via Ctrl-Q, but if you try and immediately type your password and press enter, nothing happens. Neither a restart or a reinstall fixes the problem.
Any feedback would be very important to the players, it's spread through a couple of threads now.
PS: This is NOT the same as the network problem others are experiencing, this problem is machine specific, other machines that I am running at this location are working fine.

Try this .. worked for me.
Originally by: Thrador Shiv I had this problem. Newly built-system, fresh install of Windows XP (fully up-dated), Eve was the first program installed after the OS. I got a quick flash of the splash screen then nothing.
Here's the solution that worked for me:

Ok, now to the solution. I had been analyzing my system event log and noticed a number of error events when I attempted to load Eve. Looking them up on google (event 58 and 59), I stumbled upon a recommendation to re-download Windows Visual C++ runtimes. I did so and viola, I'm now in Eve.
Here's a link to the download from microsoft: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtimes

I work on this same issue for about 2 hours. Reinstall my GPU Drivers and it was fine.

I ended up reformating back to XP and now EVE works. That's the last resort seen as CCP Staff didn't bother replying to my petition for over 48 hours.
