At 2 am (GMT) There was an unschedualed downtime on which the message said would last for 20 mins so i didn't bother changing my 45 min remaining skill training however 55 mins later and the server is still down and resulting in lost training time! now i have to decide do i go to bed and lose hours and hours of this time, as they take so long this would be a blow, or wait up to c when the server finally boots up again??
I have no real problems with having to maintain the server to fix issues but if u must do them give an accurate time taken or just say "WE DONT KNOW!!!"
Any one else feel the same way????

Yes I agree that more forthcoming information is sorely lacking

Once you have become familiar with the game, you learn always to set a long skill when they announce a downtime, even if they say that they'll be right back up. Unfortunately, you are learning that lesson the hard way.

I work in IT - never believe anything we say. Set your expectation that something will go wrong and set a long skill training before you log out. I usually set something that'll train for several days, just in case.

oh look a wambulance. Never trust their times, especially if they tell you a time. This goes for other products as well. Unforeseeable exceptions happen and they are completely uncontrollable. It's like telling someone that you can pick them up in 5 minutes then you are involved in a head-on accident. Are you still going to make it in 5 minutes?

Edited by: scabbsssjr on 24/06/2007 02:50:01 Listen. This server is not a push the button and its fixed, it is very complicated. These people are up at 3 in the morning over their working on it, so give them a break okay? They don't like and neither do we. ---------------------------

You've been playing 3 years and you're somehow surprised that CCP was incorrect in their estimate for the length of a DT? I find that hard to believe.
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

I too am greatly annoyed, as the weekend is the only time I can really play. That said, we can only grin and bear it. We pay them money, and we play on an online world that exists as a bunch of ones and zeros inside a server farm in Iceland.
We can only vote with our feet. I am 26 days into the game, and don't really feel that missing out on 45 mins of skill training is a reason for me to quit. If you feel that is the case, so be it, but for now, we are all waiting on CCP. Unless you want to vote with your feet, all we can do is wait.

Please post your concerns to tonight's unexpected downtime in This thread. Unfortunately nothing is ever as simple as it first appears so expected up-times are often changed "on-the-fly" as the situation evolves.
Locking this thread as it does not belong in the new player Q&A section.
Thanks
