Im normally very understanding of the fact that there will always be certain bugs. I also understand that CCP cannot go off player submitted screenshots.
However we have just had a major patch and the desync bug has STILL not been fixed, its probably the most dangerous of all bugs, why? because players dont know its happening to them until they get blown up and the enemy tells you you were 40k off a station, or a gate.
Yesterday we lost a carrier to it, he was happily sitting on a station when a enemy fleet came in and ganked him. This is just 1 example of a loss, but there is a mass of people losing personal assets to this bug every day. Why havent ccp fixed it? and worse yet, if its going to take so long to fix it then they should ease up on reimbursement because this is a ridiculous bug that needs attention right now.
Yes this is a whine.

Agreed with dark that its a big issue, needs to be fixed or CCP have to accept evidence, once it do happen. Not fair for the ppl it happen to, no matter who they are!

The problem is you have to pinpoint where the desynch happens, i find quite often that if i leave EVE alone when i come back and type in corp or whatever i get the connection lost box, doesn't seem to happen if you keep active.

Because it's a difficult technical problem, and perhaps you shouldn't be flying carriers around solo and then cry when you get ganked

I agree that it is a problem. But just as much as we you hate we also hate it.
Would be cool if EVE client received sync information with at least every 10th update (I dont know if they do it now but just fcked up somehow) and not just when you load space (undock), warp to new area, jump to system etc.

So are you saying that a) we shouldnt undock or use anything alone, and b) that because its a common bug that happens even when ratting its fine?
No sir, you are stupid.

1. I dont think personal attacks are allowed on this forum.
2. It looked like 2 Avatars and not an Avatar and a wrecked Avatar.

Not really an eve only problem as other mmo's have same thing. In guildwars (although not a REAL mmo) your character is sometimes more ahead than where you are so going up stairs is a real *****. In WoW the same thing happens but it stops you looting a corpse and such. Only prob with eve is that when you die from it....well it hurts more. --------

Both IAC and BoB have lost motherships to this, and it is probably the most aggravating bug in EVE for any mission runner.
I endorse a fix for this, even if its simply a big button that you click to resync your client!

Edited by: EntroX on 24/06/2007 16:38:53 well, to be totally honest and fair, the desync issues aren't always a server sided issue, between you and the CCP's cluster there are quite a lot of hops in between providers in order to make a connection, while it might not be your fault it might not be ccp's either.
when a client looses connection to the server it will attempt to function normally for a short period of time to attempt to restore the natural flow of data between client/server, this is what causes effect of "nothing happening". if it doesnt restore the connection after that amount of time the server terminates the connection wich causes you to get kicked.
i do agree it sucks, i have lost ships like this myself but there's no real way of directly blaming ccp for this, if your friend didn't see anything happening due a connection issue and it was ccp's fault then everyone would have had the problem, preventing your friend getting ganked, it was most likely one of the many servers his connection went trough that momentarily went down causing his problem.

Just make a resynch client function.
Bind it to Ctrl-T or something. You press Ctrl-T and client asks server what it is supposed to be doing then ajusts itself accordingly.

the "nothing going on" you feel sometimes, also known as a connection lag is exactly that, a delay where the client doesn't do anything due the lack of instructions to follow, for online gaming a constant flow of data is required to function properly. if nothing happens after a set period of time the process is killed causing a disconnection.

I like this idea.. it shouldn't introduce more lag overall simply because you'd only be hitting the button every so often. God knows de-sync happens more to us NA players anyways (good old 170ms ping ftl). I'd love a big red button I could smack every so often. Hell, might even make my drones less stupid (probably not, but you never know )
