I have a blue print but I would like to research it to death (nearly) before I begin in the factory.
I was wondering if anyone was aware of a station with an open research slot?

Use your map, with display settings on "Laboratory", you'll see all system with research facilities.
Then make your choice, but the more you're near to Luminaire/Yulai, the less slots available.

Try umokka, lots of empty research slots in several stations there.

It's not just near the core systems that it's nigh on impossible to get a lab slot, nowadays... I'm struggling to find any in >0.3 space.

I got a lab slot 1 jump from Luminaire last night, I checked the slots 2 times a day during the last week and was lucky enough to find one.
When a slot is rented it¦s not set that it will be rented for ever ...
take your time - my advice is to pick a research-station wisely and fit to your Production Base, HQ, Favourite Agent, haircolour, whatever and "camp" it for free labslots.

On the highway, it usually IS set. People just pre-book the next 3 day slot continuously, and the slots never come up.

Try Inghenges, Sing Liaison I think, large number of stations and there are usually a few free research/manufacture slots. Bout 7 jumps from Luminaire if I remember correctly.

You can always find open Lab slots at stations that are 2-5 jumps from more convenient stations - I sometimes use slots at those stations whenever I need an extra slot for s short time.

That's what I've been doing too. I'm working agent missions and the first thing I do when I enter a station with a research lab is check for free slots. Eventually, you get lucky. I currently have all I can use (need to train research lab operation to a higher level).

A friend of mine spotted a bunch of Lab Slots in a system out near Harroule in a Duvolle Station... go and get 'em... 
BTW - the shortcut he used went right thru PF-346 towards Stacmon but he only saw 1 little mOo in PF-346 around 0600 hrs GMT.

I grabbed one the other day 4 jumps from Luminaiare. Now I Just have to remember to hang onto it, placed a friate BP there and did a 200 ME runs, going to take years so as long as I pay the bill the slotis mine.
hard to cme by tough.

Sirppala has plenty left, both factories and labs. It's 9 jumps from New Caldari, 10 from Yulai, 0.8 system.
