I'm just wondering...what's the most effective way to get scarce minerals from 0.0 to Empire space? Using a t1 cruiser with 5 stabs, and 450m3 cargo bay certainly isn't a bad idea, but can't carry much. I have access to 0.0 to rat, and reprocessing the loot yields decent quantities so just wondering...
Throwaway alt in a cheap industrial? If it gets popped and podded you just lose the minerals and cost of a cheap industrial?
No, I do not have a carrier or access to one

Both have the space issue...if you take the Rapier as an example it's got 315m3 of space. Last time I looked they cost 115mill or so in Heimatar region...that's a sizable investment. Covert Ops Frig like a Buzzard has 190m3 cargo space

"transport ship"s with cloaks work ok, some friends whith it work even better, a single scout or a protective gang. the longer the way, the more dangerous.
carriers are used often, but that costs fuel. the big alliences use titans with jump bridges. -- Tempus fugit -- |

I'm sure I mentioned I do not have a carrier nor access to one (same for Dread)...
I'm just throwing low cost ideas around...Bestower with throw-away alt seems best option so far...4 low slots, and only need Amarr Industrial lvl1 to fly.

the alt may be throw-away, the goods you haul may not be. expect pirates to come back where they made profit, so your alt may really become throw-away. if you really have an alt better use him for scouting.
psst, i tell you a secret: ppl recompress the minerals: they build items with a high resource need and low volume (tractor beam), haul that stuff and reprocess at the destination. -- Tempus fugit -- |

If you fit a Giant Secure Container in a industrial, password protect it, and they pop the ship, can they still get the goodies inside? Makes for the nice "occupy 3000m3 space, fits 3900m3" trick..
I have the possibility of two routes, and a corp mate offered to scout in a Buzzard...again, I'm just throwing ideas around...

giant secure container is only password protected while anchored i think .
other possibilities , i m not going to help , since you might become a yummie target , but you have several options to avoid camps , time and route based .

Yes, (assuming it survives) all they have to do is scoop it, and then repackage it at a station and all the stuff inside gets dumped into their hangar.

So to sum up all the ideas provided in this thread...
0.0 good, firstly use a blockade runner and compress minerals. If at all possible do not reprocess minerals before arriving in empire since in most cases loots have minerals in compress form not really the most eficient one but it is still better than hauling raw minerals.
Tehn, you will get a volume issue and you will need to use carrier/dread to haul the stuff.... Atm there are really no other safish alternative and no the bigger transport ship even with their bigger armor/shield get popped really easily in 0.0 .....
With good compression, you can easily attain a 15 to one ratio, with tractor beam you get a 100+ to one ratio. Also, consider making stuff in 0.0 and selling it there too.

I'd go the carrier route. Even if you don't have access to one, you may want to ask in your local intel channels about paying for a haul. I'd expect to pay anywhere from 30-100m for the haul depending on where your out of. --------------- This sig has been censored in fear of recieving the ban hammer... |

Edited by: Esk Esme on 26/06/2007 12:38:01 so u wana b a pipe runner hmm
kk look at the tools avialable to u 1st. map ( number's pilots in space/ how much trafic through system's kills in last hour ( not most relaible tool coz cant c if red or blue camps but intel channels allaicne chat might hlp)
2nd. know your area ( make the run a few time's in frig find alternitive path's and make book marks for emrgancy's in systems u belive wil b a proble )
3rd. have a kali alt scout toon dont cost **** to make and can shuttle scout ahead :)
4th. behind u r alt scout industrail ship to u r skill lvl rigged/ expanderd to the max with CLOAK fitted
5th. your onbord scanner is your friend warp to plamet clost to gate cloak and scana round if u feel the heat keep aligned
u might find it more profitble to move some the top named mod's u find back and forth emp/0.0 as to minirals untill u get carrier acsess
last but not least DONT TELL ANY1 YOUR PLANED TIME'S OR ROUTE'S gl man
o yea dont warp from gate to gate if u think there might b a solo dictor or somthing but u r kali scout should give u all the intel u need

Located a Dread pilot that's willing to help, and will do it for a decentish priceCorp mate can generate the cyno field, so might just go that route...

carrier or cap ship is probably the safest bet. A more fun (in terms of risk and adreneline) option, and the way I used to haul stuff out to 0.0 (I regularly stocked two markets in Syndicate) is as follows. -Scout a course with a cov ops. Get a safespot bm for each system from start to finsh. -Pack up an itty with your cargo (I generally slap a cloak on the itty though it most likely wont save you if you egt caught at a gate). Then leapfrog them out. Take cov ops through a gate, if the gate is clear bring itty through. Warp to ss. Check exit gate and jump through with cov ops. Repeat. I have hauled hundreds of millions of cargo through Syndicate like this. I might get caught and popped once every thirty times. Don't ever relax your guard. The only time you're vulnerable is if a ship is sitting cloaked at the gate that your scout doesnt see or someone jumps to your gate while you itty is gearing up to warp. If you do it right it's not a terrible way to go. Also, an itty 5 with 12 gsc's and 2 cargo rigs can hold a little over 48K of goodies....
