This might already be well known, but for the newer players, I would like share a tip about running missions faster.
There are quite a few missions which ask you to eliminate all hostiles within the deadspace, yet 99% of the time this is not true. You actually do not need to kill everything, just certain NPC groups. (usually the ones that spawn *after* you enter the deadspace)
Before starting each mission, you should bring up the mission details window, and then minimize it to the bottom of your screen. Do not close it! During your mission, if you happened to kill these "certain" NPC groups and trigger a mission completion, the minimized window will automatically pop back up onto your screen, letting you know the mission is over. You can also use this trick to help determine which groups you need to kill for each mission, in order to cut time and run the missions faster.
This same logic also applies to locked gates. The gate message will tell you that all hostiles must be destroyed, but once "certain groups" are destroyed, the gate will be unlocked. I'll leave it up to you to figure out which groups those are. :-)

You dont even need to have the window minimized, just after geting the mission, open and close your journal to stop it from blinking.
Then after you have mission complete it will start blinking.
