It depends why you want the POS, you might be happiest in npc 0.0, and if you find a quiet area it's free. Either way, if you want to be neutral I wouldn't throw in with BoB.

As we managed to prove quite spectacularly in ISS, there is no neutral in 0.0
People will want your stuff, or they will want to shoot you for fun. If you rent, you'll have to share standings with whomever you rent from. It doesn't matter if its bob, the ftz, or anyone else.

Edited by: laurozaura on 25/06/2007 16:09:59 That is not correct. Our corporation is renting space of BoB since january and we dont have to share anything of our rented constellation - and in case hostiles you cant handle yourself show up you ask your "landlord" to send in the cavellary. Even the protection BoB offers is worth the isk - lets not even talk about infrastructure like stations you dont need to build yourself. Renting is a bargain for both sides. If the space is lost due to war you dont loose anything at all - i think that is the best about renting. As a small alliance/corp. the risk that you get conquered is too big - the 0.0 space is anarchy so building a station you cant defend on your own is like throwing a bag full of money on the streets hoping that noone picks it up.
Edit: I forgot to mention that. Talk to dianabolic regarding renting. I can recommend BoB as being a great partner when it comes to fairness, liability & protection.

Predictable propaganda responses aside, 0.0 is really not a good place to be neutral in. Rent from BoB and co, you're going to have coalition gangs roaming around looking to explode you, and vice versa. In your position I'd pick one of the quieter alliances out in the drone regions and ask if they were interested in you joining, as that seems to be one of the (relatively) peaceful areas of 0.0 space.
Give PvP a go though, you might get to like the taste of blood!

It's not. Being neutral just means everyone will shoot you.
I have no idea what you're looking for. If you're just looking to run a POS for research and a bit of building, why do you need to go out to 0.0 space? Why can't you just run one in low-sec?
If you really think you have to be out in 0.0, try to find a place close to empire that's just a carrier jump away -- assuming you guys have the skills for a carrier. The downside to drone space is it's a pretty long way from empire and the only real way to make money seems to be to get your stuff back into empire. I'm sure there's a market out there, but it sounds like to me most players there are industrialists and so the market is likely saturated with the stuff people will actually buy.

As a general rule in 0.0 unless you are blue (they show you as blue) to someone they are going to shoot you end of story. There is no neut in 0.0 there are friendlies, then everyone else will be trying to kill you. Signature inappropriate. Please refrain from using your signature to allude to Developer favouritism. My new corp is also looking for somewhere in the north to hang out in 0.0. I am pointed towards old friends in LV but to be frank i want to keep our small corp out of the hyper wars. So in the shades of grey i would be happy to have positive standings towards the likes of MC and so on and muck in every so often but stay out of the main fray for the time being.

If you join the GBC insist on some space in the southwest. BoB currently loves to put their pets into the southeast as ablative armor for their own systems.

I've been in a renter alliance... in theory it works grate if your landlord gives a **** about you, but in general they have their own issues and as long as you can make rent they couldn't care less and if you can't they'll just replace you anyways. Oh and your loards political situation will become yours... no way around it.
That being said if you are smaller and want a "safe and neutral" place to set up shop I'd talk to CVA, they are good folk and keep their space rather clear and to my knowledge aren't involved in any major hostilities atm. Just my thoughts. ------- Even my barge has kills... |

Partly, yes. But the OP wants a quiet bit of space to put up a POS without being ganked on a daily basis, not to be rolling in officer spawns and crimson arkanor.

On a sidenote : you will have the opportunity to fight those who call you "bobpets" and there is nothing sweeter than tasting the bitterness of a defeated opponent who calls you a "pet". Statements like "We attacked BoB but we couldnt get past their pets." or "We attacked their pets but a BoB Titan came in and DD'ed our fleet - how lame..." really makes your day every now and then. Most think you are easy pickings but for fact our neighbors also have their own capital fleets so when **** hits the fan usually the region inhabits can defend theirself anyway - and if not we dont loose anything - You simply cant be conquered.

I love BoB as well - they are the reason i got filthy rich. We moved into our new rented home in january and i only had a little raven and 300 mill in my wallet - in february i broke the 3 bil mark - well now it's june, go figure. It all wouldnt have been possible without them.
So yeah, you might be right that i'm a little bit gratefull & convinced about BoB :) - so nothing bad about being "a pet" like you call it. Looks like BoB treats their "pets" better than some alliance does it's member corp. We'll expand, become rich and get pvp experience by some of the best FCs.
The reason the other alliances dont have "pets" is because they dont make adequate offers. BoB simply knows how the ingame politics work. Personally i think this is the mainreason of their success.
Just look at the failing start of the big war. The north simply attacked some renters in the south which was ******* stupid, it united all of us down here and improved our relationship with BoB. Thank you, northerns.
