I fly taranis's, and I couldn't help but notice it is a couple mil more than the stilleto and I for the life of me, can't figure out why. IMO the stilleto is far better considering it has 4 mid slots.
Just out of couriosity, is it production costs that make the taranis cost more?

It's due to noobs who think it makes a good solo PVP'er with blasters. Sure.

The same reason that the claw is more expensive than the stiletto and the same reason that people think AFs are viable PvP ships...

the jaguar works pretty ok for pvp, and my last ranis made me like 4bil (ok i got insanely, insanely lucky :P)
Ranis is nice for 0.0 npcing too..

because the Stilleto is made out of the best stuff yet cheap. 100 rolls of duct tape, 400 rolls of barbed wire, 10,000 pounds of bondo and 50,000 rusty rivits on that bad boy.

pre-nerf multispec stiletto was pretty insane. Kept my taranis jammed for 60 seconds, nearly died. Than i got a lock @ 50% hull . 10% hull left ftw.

Your comparing things that really shouldn't be compared.
Taranis is a Gallente ceptor - which translates in popular, with the best close range DPS in game. This again translates again in popularity, which means that many will buy and use it.
Stiletto is not a combat ceptor in the way the Taranis is. Taranis is for fast small gangs, and for popping other ceptors.
Stiletto is pure tackle and EW. Damage comes secondary for it, as does for the Ares, Raptor, Malediction.
