Reading the item database on the Prowler, it says
"Minmatar Industrial Skill Bonus: +5% cargo +5% velocity, 10% shield and armor em, 5% shield and armor thermal"
Base shield EM is already 50%. Does that mean that at Minmatar Industrial V, I would have 100% shield EM resist? Which would be cool, but I had the impression from reading 'round that 100% resistance was impossible... or is it only impossible WRT resist mod stacking? ----- We are all stardust... some more often than others. |

It's like AFs, already built in, doesn't gain from sitting in the ship, but it's still listed as a bonus.

1. I'm sorry to say this, but you have apparently no clue how resists work. 2. See link in sig for detailed explanation on how resists work. 3. Resists bonuses on AFs, transport ships and exhumers are already included in base item showinfo. 4. Resists bonuses on HACs/CSs with resists bonuses are not included in base item showinfo.
Really, I thought EVE-Uni teaches people better than this.

Resistance bonuses are not added but multiplied with the base value. Even if you add hardeners you will never be able to achieve 100% resistance.

Don't worry, my plan for becoming less clueless is (a) E-Uni, and (b) asking questions. and (c) reading helpful links, thank you also.
I wasn't sure whether to ask here or the new players Q&A; put it here since it was ship-specific in a way. Sorry if it would have been better in the other forum. ----- We are all stardust... some more often than others. |

you asked in the right place, but most people will treat you like a dumbass when you ask questions, no matter how advanced they are, this is an online community after all...

If you fit 2 t2 EM shield rigs and fitted all officer em shield harnders mids and a t2 damage contol you probally would end up with 99.9%

I think you can probably hit 99.5 EM resist with faction gear and one of minmatar's t2 ships with 5 lows... a vagabond for example... just to put this in perspective, you'd be taking 1/200th of the raw EM damage... it'd be awesome to try doomsdaying someone with that, and having a 250 damage hit from a judgment or something That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter. I'm Right here .
It does help to ask people ingame such simple questions though. Took me a few years to understand alot in EVE. Many of the simple things, such as the true effect and dynamics of resistance, hung a couple inches over my head for a long time without much real thought.
Staying with a starter corp or either joining a large corp with plenty of people to help out with these things is the best to do. If a question pops into one's head, then the question should be asked. It's much better to learn what others know than to ignore what can actually help you.
As for asking simple question's on the forums, when it could be a simple matter of just asking someone in game, should be avoided. New and old characters alike are constantly asking a question about something in game. Noone would want the forums cluttered up with these things that actually contain no information.
Times that the forums are to be used for a simple question is after it has been asked in game and either no information was not able to be given or the answers seemed mis-informed or you didn't like the answer. Such being "how to set up a ship". In this case, you really want the more experienced answer, not the answer from someone who don't seem to know how to use thier own ship. -------------------------------------- ---"What's in your wallet?"--- "There are two kinds of respect, fear and admiration.... I'll take what I can get" |
