I'm wanting to know what moduels AND skills are required to tank with a Myrmidon . At the moment im tanking it with just the amror but im thinking of making the shields alittle tougher and use 5 turrets and 5 heavy drones. So can you please give me your idea's for moduels and skills that will help me tank better. Thanks

crap the shields, tank with yer armor. something like this,
2x Med repper II 3x energized plating
and a med cap booster with 800 charges in yer med slot
skills te have would be armor repair systems lvl 4 hullupgrades lvl 4 or 5 armor compensation skills are always good energy managemnt lvl 4 energy system operation lvl 4 if ye want alill more grid, get engineering lvl 5 and Advanced weapon upgrades lvl 4, should help with some fitting problems.
n there's prolly more things that ye could use, but its early so I'm slow

Well Im going with a resist tank on both armor and shields. Im useing T2 energized membrains 1600mm rolled tungston and just a singal medum armor repp in my low slots. For my med slots Im running all 4 sheild resist amps and a T2 10MN AB. High slots I have 2 modal light nutron blasters 2 modal nutron blasters salvager and a tracter beam.
As far as skills I would sugest getting all your cap sheild armor and hull related skills to at least lvl4 some to lvl 5 for the T2 moduels. As well as all the resist skills up to lvl 4 as well. Drone skills are also a must. Getting T2 drones will greatly increase your chances of survival. Drone nav is the only skill I wouldent take to lvl 5 though unless you are going to be running heavy drons only (and they are still slow at that point).
Please note that Im only running missions with this load out not tested in pvp. Works great for all lvl 2 missions and should work for some lvl 3 missions (havent tested it though).

You can shield tank it. In fact, if you're running missions, that's probably the best setup you can go with.
Might not work in lvl 4s(not tried the new ones).
4x dual 150s 1x small remote armor rep(keep the drones alive) 1x small remote hull rep(more keeping the drones alive) 3x large shield extenders 2x active rat-specific hardeners 4x shield power relays 2x cap power relay(keeps the guns and the hardeners going)
rigs: 1x core def field extender 2x core def field purger
Drones: 4x racial damage large 5x racial damage small

those 2 are perfect. More Nos maybe.
And I'd advise to use 4 heavy II and 5 light II drones. Great against tacklers and drones.

If you're mission running then a passive shield tanked Myrmidon has a stronger tank than any armor tanked one, by a long shot. See the link in my sig for various options with real numbers provided comparing setups. The numbers are all pre-nerf but only drop the passive shield tanked numbers by about 10%.
WredStorm ----- Think out of the box, consider passive shield tanking your Myrmidon, you'll be pleasantly surprised! |

^^ Althoug hyes the passive shield tank is good, for Gallente players they wont use most of the shield skills later and also we generally dont have them (in general Gallente is armour tanking), therfore to train those skills would take a fair while.
So therfore even though it has a weaker tank, the SP will serve me better after I move on from the Myrmidon.
Armour compensation skills 4, repair systems 4, hull upgrades 5 would be the three most important, EANM2 access, MAR2 access, compensation skills to make it all run better.

Although I prefer the passive/semi passive shield setup for a myrmidon, I did also play around with a dual active tank prior to rev II.
highs : 5x projectile (scout 650's I think) 1x DLA mids : 3x cap recharger II's, 1x SBA II(or shield extender II if you like the buffer), 1x gist small a-type SB <--just for mission running, if you're out in 0.0 switch these last two out for a web and scrambler lows: EANM II's x 3, DC II x 1, MAR II's x 2 rigs: ccc x 3
no idea if this still works though

2 x MAR 2s, 3 active hardeners for therm, kin, and explosive, and a DCU
This gives you massive rep amount, decent resists, and the DCU will give you a little extra shiled resist and will pretty much double you structure due to the 50% resist bonus. Make sure you take a medium cap booster with you though to power the reps. A myrm can fit 12 800 cap boosters and a nice lump of ammo which will let you tank for a while.

I run a pretty similar setup, except I use a DLA, 1 weapon for aggro, and some tractors and salvagers for mission running, works very well.
The DC is very important (I used best named T1 due to skills ATM) as it gives the shield a nice buffer and the hull resists kick ass as a safety buffer if your not paying attention (I keep some hull repairers in dock if I ever go into hull, its damn expensive to repair!)

This'll work like a charm. I just like to use different rigs:
1 x Anti-EM pump, 1 x Anti-Explosive pump, 1 x Aux Nano pump
This will give you ~ 75% resist on all damage types.
You'll also really really really want T2 Ogres.

Edited by: Yana Kaar on 29/06/2007 08:19:24 taking a passive mission-tank into account, do not use this setup!

the bold parts are the "****"parts ;)
Instead of the 4x SPR and 2x CPR, usw: 3x SPR and 3x PDS (if you strongly need the cap...). using a passive tanked Myrm, its advised to train for projectiles to have a cap-independant weapon system.
Instead of the "field extender" rig, use a recharger rig, it gives you a higher recharge rate.

Well, as a passive-tanked myr pilot myself, I have to say it is pretty effective. It's a bit weird since it has bonuses to armor, but I've found it more effective than piloting a drake oddly enough.
I'll post what I have equipped right now, though I have to give credit to WredStorm and her thread for the set-up though.
Highs : 5 125 mm, 1 drone control link (that's all getting reworked once I get into lvl 4s) Meds: 4 LSE IIs, and 1 Invul Field (until I can equip tech 2) Lows: 5 SPR IIs, and 1 PDS II. Rigs: 3 shield purgers
Skills - Shield Management IV, Shield Ops V
It gives about 18.7k shields with 121 regen time, plus resists.
Of course there's not as many options for pvp for it, but it's not designed for pvp - it's perfect for missions though.
Something to think about.
