Good evening,
I've been playing for a couple of months now, and have been completely ignorant of Jita or the issues concerning the system. That is... until last night.
I ended up receiving a 6 jump lvl 2 agent mission that 'required' I go through Jita to get to my destination. No way around it on the map.
Warping into Jita was impossible. I waited 10 minutes for the system to load, quit, and tried to log in. I sat there stuck at the black screen for another 10 minutes. Quit the game, logged in as my alt, and filed a petition to get unstuck. A second try a short while later had the same results. Stuck character.
I realize that there has probably been much discussion and work on this topic, but here are my suggestions.
Since Jita is a marketplace: 1: Remove all agents from Jita 2: Remove Jita from the flight path of "all" agent missions. 3: Make a way around Jita for all systems 4: No asteroid belts in Jita (not that mining there is possible now)
The result will be that people "playing" eve and running missions can avoid Jita, and traders can do their thing free from interference. Everyone wins (mission runners, traders, etc).

I actually never have much of a problem in jita. My theory is that people who have exceptionally bad problems there are on low bandwith connection which is the bottleneck. Am i right or am i just special and the lag avoids me.

Jita has never been exceptionally bad for me. I fly through every few days to and from somewhere, and used to buy stuff in there before I realized that THERE IS NOBODY FORCING YOU TO GO TO JITA FOR ANY REASON AT ALL. So I do business nearby. No problem.

I will also speak up as someone who has never actually seen huge lag in Jita. A bit yes, of course, a few seconds delay, the market takes a while to load, but that's it. -

Noob question.
I'm new, I have a fast computer and a pretty good internet connection. Went to Jita for the first time on an alt to see what the fuss is about. It loaded fine.
What is it about this system that attracts so many people?

Same here. Laggy, but never had those "10 min black screens" people talk about. Though, if I do buy anything in there for any reason, i buy from another system, then go in, pickup and leave to reduce amount of moves and market requests from inside the system.

Best way to solve this problem would be to find a system in the middle of the universe somewhere with no stations, belts, and few gates, and link it to Jita, Oursulaert, Amarr, Rens, Renyn, and a couple of other systems... It would basically make this system extremely busy for through-traffic, but would never have a population of over 300 so the lag would be bearable, then people would go here to check on prices of each trade hub, and as most people know, Jita is actually quite overpriced. Trade would move away from Jita and (over about 4-6 months) all the systems linked to this system would become better trade hubs as people realise they can undercut in different locations. Eventually these 5-6 systems would all balance out and have populations of about 200 each.
There could also be a new filter on the contracts that would just view the trade hubs so that people don't have to mess about with that, so this filter would be 'Main Trade' and would access contracts in Jita, Rens, Oursulaert, Amarr...
You get the idea... Yes, it would make a new extremely busy system, but it was also thin out the population in Jita when all the resellers realise they can undercut each other by moving to a system 2 jumps over.

Edited by: Exxt on 27/06/2007 12:12:27 i had sometimes those 'black screens'. big deal. log out and log back in. problem solved. maybe once a month you won't be able to get back in very soon. so what, big deal.
Edit: I don't understand why so many 'Jita' threads. Everybody and his mum is going there to buy/sell stuff. how would the removal of stations help this situation? Another hub will form in another system.

I have only been to Jita 3 or 4 times since I started playing. I do notice that if I turn down my graphics to the lowest settings before I enter into Jita, it helps out alot with any lag, especially when I undock. I don't know if that would work for anyone else, but works for me. Might be an idea to try next time you go.

Been playing for over a year and JITA will never change. Its a trading post. Most contracts are in Jita and u can get virtually any item you want there from the markets. Traders know that u can tell by the ammount of frighters that fly in and out of jita. Its a shame that some mission etc require you to use Jita or fly past it. But its not as bad as other areas as eve have been getting.

You must be special. I have a 10Mb fiberoptical connection. Got lagged to hell and back in Jita yesterday as I was undocking in 4-4 and tried to get to warp. I have screenshots of my ship being 5AU from the station - but it ended up as a wreck at the station exit anyway?

Oh i have to laugh at those who boldly state there is no lag at Jita and say it must be you.
BTW i have a 8mb broudband connection so id say my connection is more than good enough for my needs.
Fact of the matter is that Jita is usually inordanatly buisy most of the time with peopel spamming local all the time with sell orders and links to contracts so its little wonder that people experience at least a little lag.

Brain fart:
I moved my alt out of Jita and to Airkiro (sp?), 3 jumps away.
Though my agent still sends me to systems via Jita, if I want to avoid it I have to add 3 or 4 jumps to my route.
Lag is just as bad in surrounding systems. It took me 30 minutes last night to jump into Sobaseki (not from Jita).
Two solutions I see: 1) Nerf Jita - though that will undoubtedly move the problem to whatever system becomes "new jita" 2) Boost the Autopilot so that it is aware and avoids systems which are near capacity. I bet 1/4 of the people in Jita are just passing through.
What I do the rest of the time - Vote for a Jita bypass! |
