I've recently started playing last week as a pirate/PvPer, so still VERY much a noob. I upgraded to a paid account yesterday before my trial ran out (hit a queue for trial accounts on login, so decided to just shell out to get past it).
Anyway, I learnt yesterday that trial accounts cannot transfer money to other players. With that in mind, is it not worth my ransoming players under 14 days old because they have no physical way of paying me? I know a lot of you will say that it isn't worth it anyway, but it's not like I can try ransoming the better ships yet, and a 500,000 isk ransom from an Industral is still a healthy increase in my wallet, not to mention more fun than missions. Are there any other ways to ransom the newer pilots, or should I leave them well alone and go for richer targets once I have got my skills up?

startest way is to blast the ship into deep struct, then give them 20-30sec to respond to a isk demand, no answer or refuseal to pay, blow them and please be REASONABLE in your demands 100 million for somone in a bs probly aint gonna happen. one, they dont have it or two. they are gonna feels its easier to keep it to replace the ship your putting wholes in true piracy is a business, you have to charge reasonable prices are people wont buy your product (which would be your not shooting them anymore) ------------------------------------------------ Do not let the world change you. since im pretty shure its me your talking about ransoming you for the skillbooks you were ratting with in you cargo hold, no its not worth it money wise. But boredom overcomes all and we're all human.
no its totaly not worth even trying to ransom poeple who have no way to pay up, ( aside from making them sing "im alittle teacup in local, Ty you know who you are) but since your just starting out, id say any and every opportunity you have to practice is worth more than any iskies, so attack everything you can, learn from each, an wave your hook high while singing things that make no sense to people who dont get it oh and if they dont get it ransom the pod too

Depends on what I'm flying if I even consider engaging a new player but I don't bother ransoming them as they quite often don't have the means to pay.
A lot of the time young characters are alts of older more experienced players and they won't bother paying as buying a new clone and ship is often cheaper than any ransom demand.
Of course I have recently had someone ask me to stop shooting and offer ransom but they popped just as I deactivated my guns, so I podded him for my indescretion and got a nasty mail from him Woe is me

Edited by: Pixelshader on 27/06/2007 15:07:51 shipscanner is your friend.
Edit: As for new players your best bet is to ransom for the same amount as the ship costs. or maybe even a little less. if your ransoming haulers I would suggest a shipscanner to see what he's carrying and set the ransom there after.

Were you the guy in the Imicus who tore me a new one with the Tech 2 drones when I attacked you? Either way, I wasn't NPCing; I just tend to hit low sec in a PvP ship, and if no targets around, make a little money by killing NPCs for a while.

It's ALWAYS worth going for the ransom of a not-so-old target. There is always the possibility they are an alt with a head full of expensive implants to accelerate learning. Or the ship might contain swag being hauled for a main....you get the idea .

a newb ransomoning an old playes alt? are you serious? My alt will never get killed. Ever. Not in low sec thats for sure. And not with the amount of stbas I fit to get around.
good luck. Ransoming works if u got a group/gang and can hold the target.

If you don't ask...you don't get. And there are plenty of inattentive alliance alts running around losec either pretending to be pirates or better yet...ratting/mining/missioning whatever.
Yep...stabs are great....until you have a flock of inties snag you. Or sensor-boosted bigger ships blowing you away at a gate when you attempt to align/warp .

ppl are more scared of getting there pod ransom to there ship. it really depends on the ship and player tho. used to ransom back in 2003-2004. but its a good money worker if you know trade routes and stuff like that.

The only issue with leaving the new characters alone is you never know if they are an older characters alt hauling something small yet valuable (and you dont always have room/time for a cargo/ship scan)

Not all players under the age of 14 are on the trial accout. Me for instance bought eve before ever having a trial account (I saw a friend playing and had to by it.)
