Investigador Caldari Hator inc	Posted - 2007.06.27 11:40:00 - [1] I was reading here about ransoming young players. When I was a very young player, I tried to pay a pirate solo camper on a low sec gate to protect me while I made a NPC trader route for half the benefit I would get for it (had to go with me to the next low sec system and back to where we were). He refused, and he asked me instead for a high amount on exchange for not killing me when exiting the system. I finally refused, and I just warped to zero in front of his nose, and he couldn't catch me, but that's not the point of this post. The point is that this pirate prefered sitting at a gate and shoot at passer-bies rather than actually cooperating with other players, and.... well, you know, playing a multiplayer game. I am afraid that this is the case with most gate campers. They just want to make isks by shooting at stuff while sitting at one place, and they care a **** about playing with other people and having fun, just pew-pewing industrials. You lazy people :P P.D.: All people that felt offended by this post is a lazy gatecamper :D

ry ry StateCorp	Posted - 2007.06.27 11:58:00 - [6] i think gatecamping is a little bit lame, but it doesn't fill me with THE RAGE like it does some people. that said, corps like klepto have to admit that most of their time is spent on gates, killing ships that have no chance of getting a lock, let alone getting away. It kinda makes me wonder what the point of it all is. honest question: do you genuinely enjoy sitting at a gate all day activating smartbombs every time you see a gate activation?

Often these days we try to get people to eject, it's alot of fun thinking up reasons / storys as to why 'it's the best thing to do' for them... I spent 10mins trying to convince a machariel pilot to eject last night, he was 1 month old and was only fitted with a afterburner. Even after giving him the usual story of 'it's the only way your pod will survive' and 'when you get podded you have to start eve again from scratch' ..all he could say was 'hi' Suffice to say he died, and we laughed at him alot in local which made me feel good anyway... Kleptomaniacs are recruiting evildoers. Channel KLEPTO for info.

Runix Nightwalker	Posted - 2007.06.27 13:26:00 - [19] I actually think the "future" of gatecamping, so to speak, is that the gatecamps will become more and more controlled by whoever has laid claim to that portion of null-sec or even low-sec space. The game is getting more crowded, and there's less and less unclaimed space; gatecamping can be big money, so Corps that have claimed a section of space aren't going to sit back and let some amateurs set up their own operation. There's not much opportunity, or incentive, to try and control all the two-bit pirates, but gatecamping won't be E-Z Mode PvP for much longer unless you have a stamp of approval from the local controlling Corp.

Well, I was more thinking that he preferred investing his time in sitting on the gate in the event some other industrial with lots of goodies inside crossed the gate in the time he would have spent protecting me. Oh, and I was a new player, so it was not much of an amount (I think it was 2mill).
