I wish the GMs would be more on the ball with killing off all the inane chat spam in Rookie Help.
75% of the time I either miss the questions (cuz I help out when I can) or miss the answers (cluttered in all the inane chatter).
Rookie Help is for Rookie Help! Not ur private chat room!
Or please create a General discussion chatchannel that is default opened, like Local.

Seriously, great topic, I wouldnt want to be a n00b looking for an answer in that channel. Plus it gives them a really bad image of he community. That channel should be heavily modded.

i started 3 days ago - and looked in that chan to try and get some help. It isnt exactly a good welcome to the game channel :) - but luckily i found my national language chan - people there are very helpfull, as are people in general in this game. Just not in the rookie chan :|

most of the noob corp channels are filled to the brim with people more than happy to tell you their opinions on everything from the best titan to use for mining, through to their thoughts on why lasers should probably do kinetic and explosive damage instead.
on the downside - everybody also claims to have a 60mil SP main character, and if you doubt them they invite you to fly to the other end of the universe where they will log said uber character on and 1v1 your rookie ship. i have no idea why either.
sometimes i start new characters just to annoy the noob corp perma-members and assorted alts.

A GM response would be nice.
I've only been on EVE for 3 weeks and I've had to remind (forcefully) people on Rookie Chat that it is indeed that and not their chat channel at least 5 times... Most of the time I just close Rookie Chat (which I hate to do) as it's mostly random nonsense.

at the very least there should be 2 channels, and when a newb enters, he/she is randomly put into one. That should 1/2 the speed of the channel, which should just about make it readable.

Rookie chat is pointless. Use your noob corp channel instead. That one is full of people who picked the same race as you and will therefore contain some people that will have at least a bit of a clue about your specific questions about weapons and ships.
When I started playing (almost 14 months ago, my how time flies!) I pretty much closed the rookie channel within about 10 minutes. The noob corp channel was my home for the next month or so and I made some very good friends in there.
Cheers

There are two problems with Rookie Help:
1) Only one channel 2) VETERANS CAN'T JOIN TO HELP OUT without creating alts
If CCP let older players join to help, the problem would be solved easily.

official and default General Discussion channel would be pretty neat, and it would reduce spam in other channels

They need to write the bloody villard wheel mission in step by step instructions because I answer it twice an hour in the n00b corp channel. God knows how many people are asking it in the rookie channel. ______________________________

First corp hasn't been much better. There has been huge amount of spam. Things such as repeating a screen full of a single word and throwing that up repeatedly. Little cartoons similarly spammed. ISK beggars and sellers. Etc..
The rookie channel a few times I did actually bother with it. I saw people poking fun at new players. Also ones popping on to insult Eve players for playing Eve at all.(trials?) At least the first corp channel people will answer new players and not being overly insulting that they are new.
Most the time I keep my chat minimized unless it's private or I'm stuck on something. Though most in the corp channel aren't too bad the spam and trolls do get annoying.
