Yesterday, I noticed on the trade channel that "Krel" wanted to sell a Typhoon for 60mil isk.
I contacted him and we agreed to sell to me the said Typhoon for 56mil.
I asked him to "escrow" to me, which he refused to do. I agreed to undertake 9 jumps to his station in Tash Murkon.
Upon my arrival he opened the trade window and presented in the trade window a brand new Typhoon. I entered 56mil isk and I pushed on the accept button.
Suddenly, I noticed that the trade was cancelled, because Krel said that EVE did not want to accept the trade. We tried again 2 or 3 times this procedure and suddenly, I noticed that Krel did not put the Typhoon but a Wreathe industrial, which resembles a bit to a Typhoon. When he did so, his accept marker on the trade window was lit, so the unaware easily could accept the deal in order to find a wreath and not a typhoon.
Luckily, I noticed the scam and I did not accept on my side.
After this, I noticed that several ppl complained on the trade channel and on local that Krel had scammed them, so ppl, beware, take extreme caution and don't let them fool you with extreme good deals, it may not be worth it.

These people never leave the station, and delete their character after x number of scams/days. __________________________

If thats the case then just check their employment history. If they were born this morning i doubt they would have any ships to sell. --------------------------------------------

I remember an old scam where a player would announce on Trade that they were quitting the game and "who ever came to X station in X system with 25mil first would get a Thorax Original BP". Being a new and eager player, quickly rushed 15 jumps to the station, all the while having the scammer providing "live" updates as to who was winning the race to the BP. When I got there, he put a Thorax ship named Thorax Original BP in the trade window. hehe-harhar. I did not fall for it, but found out later that many people did. I was mad at the waste of time, but I had to admire the scammers imagination. As many have said before: scamming is a part of EVE, not a particularly nice part, but it definately adds a sense of "Real Life" to the game. The only problem with this, is other than spending immense ammounts of time trying to hunt down the perp, (and as someone said: the scammers usually don't leave the station EVER), there is no repercussions for scamming players out of millions or billions of ISK. So just keep your wits, and beware: If it sounds too good to be true, it is. "Keep the Smak low, and the ROF high"

Scamming may be a part of eve atm, but to me there are 2 sad aspects to this.
1. People quit due to this, some might laugh or call them muppets but the people most likely to get caught are occasional players and months of work can go down the pan. Frankly I don't blame them for quiting. I certainly don't think it's good for the game or CCP as this means real money, and not just isk to them.
2. The amount of scammers is just scary. On the surface of it the game seems like a long line of people with a knife to each others back and only the occasional person stepping out of the line. It's like the scum in everyones RL personality is manifested in the game or something.
You can pod me, blow my ship all you want, I don't care. But scamming people like this is way beyond low. CCP needs to do something imo.

But with this many scammers i must beleve that there are plenty of people falling for them. Its not like there would be a scammer around if noone ever fell for it.
My next question is then, are all the worlds gread manifested in this game ? or is it all the worlds stupidity ?
If people quit after beeing scammed, then they might as well quit, becouse they dont have the stumac to play the game anyway.

Well some people just love to destroy their reputation over a few isk.
Be nice if someone kept a database of these individuals. Krel would be a nice addition.
