The other thread dealing with this issue seems to have died so i am starting a new one.
This thread is for people who are having no ISP problems or client problems and have tried all possible fixes (take down firewall, antivirus etc..)
Does your client retrieve the message of the day and autopatch just fine but still give you status:unknown?
Please let us know where you are and how long this has been happening. (I am in Ireland and have been getting this for over 2 weeks now)
POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Some people who have been having this problem have fixed it by changing their IP address.
If you are unable to change your IP due to your ISP sticking you with a static address then it is possible to connect through a proxy server. This should have the same effect as changing IP.

Will have a bash at changing IP Address. Will let you know if it works...well...if i can change it at all!

read the title of the thread it says "NOT TELNOR OR TISCALI PROB"
but i do feel for anybody locked out of eve for long periods, i think the tiscali prob is due to them deliberately blocking EVE. i think a complaint to tiscali would be in order

Lol..I noticed the title about Telenor and Tiscali...was just merely referencing the fact, just incase anyone should ever ask
But like you said, it isn't an ISP problem, as I've changed my IP address, and I can now log on!
Am I happy? You bet I am!

k thats weird, maybe you do have the same prob as me.
maybe it was just a coincidence you were with tiscali? *shrugs*

Well...after several hours of playing yesterday...I hit a new snag!
Client kept on crashing after I selected my character.
Then it eventually kicked me off and gave me all that "connection was lost" rubbish.
Well, now I'm back to square one now, server status has gone back to unknown! 
I've changed my IP address twice, and I've also changed my LAN IP...and none have worked 
Doesn't help that I added 30 days to my account aswell last night.
Am a paying customer with nothing to play!

I'm having the same problem, if im able to get past the the status unknown, then im unable to get past the character selection. and yes although u didnt want to no about tiscali, they are my current ISP. Thanks

I am going to watch this, as I have suggested this I think four times, but never heard a response.
I started to use a service called "Open DNS" http://www.opendns.com what it does is allows you to use another DNS server other then your service providers. I did this when working websites started not to come up, plus its faster and has faster updates to their cache.

The OPEN DNS idea doesnt work.
Hello again Spawinte I haven't had a chance to get onto Clearwire.ie have you? I think they are blocking EVE ala tiscali. if your try telnet to the gameserver port 26000 the connection is stopped. According to support you should see a load of gibberish as the connection is made.
