Hi,
With all changes with patches I just wana check the current rules of engagement?
If I see a pirate at a gate who's sec rating is -0.1 to -4.9 can I attack him at a gate? Will sentry guns openfire?
I presume if they are -5.0 and lower they can still be attacked anywhere?

-0.1 - -4.9 = regular citizen, do not shoot.
<-4.9 = bad person, attempt a kill.

If you have a -5.0 or worse sec rating and someone shoots at u while at a gate, can u shoot back without sentries going aggro on ya?

If a char sec status is negative 5 ( -5 ) then you can shoot him anywhere and the guns wont attack you.

I mean c'mon, just think about it. What would make more sense then the 3 most hated alliances teaming up to lay waste to the people they all hate anyways? CA is already allied with PA, and TPS lies between the two alliances. Natural allies to be sure. But it's not just that, all but PA (and even some of them) have adopted a "stfu and die, or come and fight us, we don't give a **** what you think or do" philosophy, as well as a PvP Kill everyone not friend kind of mentality. These are the people in eve that kill or convert, the ones dedicated to the death of others, because history, circumstance, and the rest of eve have driven then to do so (except TPS, who are just cool ass pirates ). |

So how are people shooting people at the gates without the turrets shooting them?
I'm so confused. Is there a bug?
Nobody seems to have the same answer. Some say you can shoot back, some say you cannot. Some say the turrets will attack them with -5.0 or greater, but I got shot by a guy with -6.5 security rating in Egglehende (0.4 I think) on Saturday. At the Gate. And the Gate did nothing. Huh?
I escaped, just barely, I was on fire when I gated. But how did he get away with that? Shouldn't the turrets have shot him? With such a bad rating? I was in a Incursus and he was in an Apocalypse, so clearly I wouldn't be shooting back. ;)

Next time if your not too worried, look up and see your attacker. check his distance. take a screenshot. give to gm's
though it may not do anygood cause ccp does not want to slap the pirates on the wrist. ccp wants destruction, it promotes construction.

Sorry Sharon, but i have to agree with Skillz : being able to shoot from apoc to a frig without suffering fire from sentry guns is not an exploit ..... never heard about firing range of sentry guns ?

Sentrys from 0.4 > 0.1 doesnt shoot at ppl with lower than -5 but if a person with -5 comes into a 0.5 system sentrys shoot and so does concord..
As for the "new" 0.4 systems sentry guns still shoot but concord doesnt show...
Maybe a bug as they forgot to turn them off when they changed the system sec and maybe they wanted a grey zone

Well the reason the guy in EGGHELENDE isn't hit by the sentry's is that he is 60km away from the sentry's and the sentry can fire up to 50km :(

hehe, so let me get this right.
1. If you are attacked "anywhere" you can defend yourself freely.
2. You can attack ships in 0.4 and below with no concord showing up (just stay away from gates and no sec standing loss)
3. If you see a pirate that is -0.5 or less you can attack them for the bounty anywhere.
4. Pirates -0.1 to -4.9 cant be shot at unless in 0.4 and lower.
