You know, I think it would be beneficial for the ctrl+shift+alt+m option to display some information that is actually useful. Things like latency, packet loss, unordered packets, etc would help in many cases where troublesome issues pop up. Some of the problems related to this may be as simple as network inefficiency.

5 gang fights today, ranging from about 20-80 ships (in total on the grid). Desynch occurred (for me) in EVERY case (in each case our gang was jumping into a gate-camp). In 3 of those cases I tried CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+M/reset, and nothing happened. Warping out of grid also didn't help. The only thing that did, was CTRL+Q.
Some people have also reported desynch in gangs with <10 people. It would appear that gang warfare (nevermind fleet engagements) is becoming increasingly difficult. I hope you guys have this issue near the top of bug list.

Dsync seems not to depend on the size of the battle. we had a 10v10 scirmish yesterday with 23 in local. And dsync hit me. only relogging helps. and ofcourse my ship died while i saw me happy flying around

I don't know if it's the same bug, but currently in almost every mission I do have desynchro bug. It's not that mods not working or warp is not shown. It's the NPC ships being in positions that my client doesn't know of. F.ex. I shoot an NPC 2 km away from me with medium neutrons, and every shot miss. Because this ship is somewhere else.
This is only solved by re-warping into mission, and "reset" button in CAS-M/Objects does not help.
I think this case of desynchro bug is easier to reproduce because only thing you need is a mission with gazillions of waves spawned at the same time... and maybe a less-than-medium quality internet connection to server.

Also had a desync happen to us. Potentially a beautiful fight with MPire/FATAL when they came to visit us with a 50 man fleet.
We were in sniping positions on the gate, little heavier on BS and with carrier support, but they had a gang with an impressive amount of HACs and CBCs and jumped in on us, could have been a very nice fight.
Unfortunately the desync hit, us apparently only to some extent, but our opponents got it straight in the face it seems. After some confusion we had to call a ceasefire to allow people to get their bearings again.
Judging from the killboards we ripped half their fleet up, but what fun is that if they can't even do anything due to a bloody bug .

It is worrying. I thought it only affected larger fleets at first since i was out of game and could only browse the nets but after getting back and playing, anything from a handful of people to mixed gangs and fleet get it. I personally had it 4 times yesterday, had to relog each time.
I have faith though that they will get to the root of the problem, otherwise, well i dread to think about it.....

Yes this is a problem, i almost lost a BS ratting due to this, also my corp mates in a gang experienced Desynchro while engaging a hostile gang and all but 2 of them had lost their ships. Definetly needs to be fixed ASAP. It is starting to become more frequent and i don't know how bad it can become.

I've not played much sicne RevII due to irl but hit this bug once so far for sure.
Infod\CoW were attacking some station services with a mid sized gang (approx 60 mixed support\bs\cap). Warped to the station and took up a close range position then proceded to open up on the services.
About 10-15mins later people start talking on TS about how long this is going to take to kill. Over 1/2 our gang was desynced and seeing the HP bar at only a few pixels whilel the rest were seeing it going down normally and at approx 50% sheild.
I relogged and then immediatly relocked the service to see it taking damge as normal.
This was in BWF, there were no more than about 80 in local. There was no fighting execept maybe 1 or 2 guys warping in or trying to undock. Most people must have desynced only about 1-2 mins after arriving at the station. Everything seemed to be working including dmg messages, reloading of guns, etc. The only this that seemed wrong was my target display wouldn't update, even if i unlocked and relocked the target.
I dunno, it's a weird one and almost if the server decides certain people\things have left the grid and stops sending updates to them? -----

Edited by: La Tortura on 01/07/2007 08:50:32 How to reproduce desync bug: 1. Download the "Speed Gear" utility. Can be found on download.com for example, so it should be relatively virus-safe 2. Run speedgear and set acceleration to high value while running eve. 3. ... approx 10-15 secs 4. You got desynced. You're in space, you can chat in ingame channels, you can't do anything until relog, shield and capa stuck at 100%.
Tried it on SiSi a few days ago. I'm not sure if it would help to solve the problem with the desync that happens without such cheat programs, but maybe it would help to debug it at least.

And boom! I'm going to go ahead and guess "Need for Speed" removed a bunch of checks that the client was seeing what the server was seeing.
Because what idiot would put those in!

Edited by: Sky Marshal on 01/07/2007 12:35:57 This video gives indeed a representation of the battle of 6T3I-L of the June, 26.
I see the desync also on smaller battles, and one time only just after a simple jump.
All classical procedures, like clean the cache etc... before a battle don't change the result.
Desyncs can happen anytime, everywhere.

It doesn't seem just a little strange to you, and those who poo-poo the current complaints, that it's happening to more people, and that those of us who have played the game since 2004 have never seen it like this?
Eight of my nine last battles ended in a desynch, some of which were permanent (had to relog).

What kind of freak justifies CCP working on making the game more complex when they don't provide their customers a workable product?

Originally by: CCP Sharkbait i have been hunting for this problem but with no joy yet. if you give me any information, please file it in a bug report and give as much information as you can.
also if you have logfiles of the event, that might help alot.
thx /Shark
In the meantime, can we compromise a bit? A button labelled, "Resynchronize", that you can only push once every few minutes (to prevent abuse, since it makes the server sends a fair bit of data) and that loads, fresh, your exact current location, as far as the server is concerned. For bonus anti-abuse points, you can include some code to send along a low-res screenshot each time you press it, and you can inform people that pressing the button (or, better, the CTRL-ALT- key sequence, so you can't do it accidentally) when you're not experiencing sync issues is a bannable offense.
--P
i saw a mail in the gamemasters mailing list to do : CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+M in game to get the console thingy majig then press reset and it clears the problem. if this works or not i have no idea, but if it does work, then it will be a lead to the problem.
if it does work for you, please leave me a note on this forum, i will be watching it.
thx
This doesn't do anything for me in desync issues.

I'm gonna bump this thread up because at least it's had some dev responses. This doesn't seem regular lag, it really is some weird desync and it's only started happening regularly in rev2. Story Time...
10 man infod gang heading to help a corpm8 who'd got trapped in R-6. 3-4 bs, some bc\crusiers and frigs camping with a large bubble.
Guy in system warps to gate to agro, we jump in 10 secs later and bang... guy in system desyncs, 90% of our gang desyncs with some (me) not loading an overview or anything and some others shooting\webbing and killing enemies who are 40+km away yet they can;t move.
Pretty disapointing :( -----

I don't know if this qualifies, but i was mining with both my accounts the other night. and i saw some impressive discrepancies between what one client saw vs the other one.
character1 was able to fill jetcans with ore even though i was 7km away from it, and when I would warp character2 in to haul off the ore, character1's client would not register the entrance of the hauler into the grid, and when it did the hauler just sort of flew in, sat there a while, and lazily headed over to the spot it was supposed to be over a period of minutes.
Character2's client saw the hauler warp in fly immediately to the can, emptied it and then back to station.
I don't expect my ships to be exactly in the same spot in space when running 2 clients, but this is a bit ridiculous. ------ I am in blood! Stepp'd in so far that, should I wade no more, it would be as tedious as going over. -MacBeth |

I've had this problem in a very small fight (8ish people total) and in larger engagements. The CAS-M thingy does nothing for me, tried it a couple of times with no joy, only relogging has fixed the problem.
Keep posting examples chaps, let's keep this item very high on the CCP agenda.

Desync happend to me, I thought i was happily cloaked, realised i was desynced and when relogged i had been podded losing lots of bpos.
I DID petition it, and CCP just said sorry. No reimbursement or anything - even though we have an admission here of the bug.
Very frustrating. Then you get one of those emails asking for feedback on how they handled the petition. Pants

Yup, I have desynch in small gangs pretty much every day. Mostly it seems to happen to me when we jump into a small camp of 5-10 ppl, then everyone desynchs and pods get stuck in space etc, no overview loading.
Had a small case of desynch yesterday when others jumped in on us, but not nearly as bad, so it seems to confirm that jumping into agressors is much worse than waiting for them.

Has anyone been desynced while running the logserver? I ask because I've had suspiciously great performance with 200 or so ships around a POS, and the only difference has been I started with the logserver and then closed it when I got to the battle.
Also seemed to log in faster.
