A bit slow, but PG, Armor, potential for 37.5% tracking bonus and 7 hi slots. I dont think you can go wrong either way, but most seem to choose the vagabond. Much faster, and a stabber with that many low slots is impressive. But the muninn should be able to take unbelievable punishment.
I am toying with training Heavy cruisers and wanted to know.

Vaga's the epitome of Minmatar fighting style.
People who want beefier ships usually go with other race's HACs anyway, hence the lack of Muninage.

The ship looks good on paper, but fails to live to standard in practice.
As a sniper she's not bad, 3 Med Slots its kind of rough, though. The range is nothing amazing (720's with tremor), it's hard to fit a full rack, and you end up wasting 2 highs. If you kit it out decently enough for sniping, then it will be paper thin.
For autocannons, it can only pack the same amount as a vagabond, with less mobility and a mediocre tank at best. It lacks both tanking ability AND ganking ability (5x 220 IIs and 2x HAM II are nothing to shake a stick at, but is considerably worse than the gallente, caldari, and even amarr counterparts)
Anyway, a HAC with 7 high slots, 2 of them gone to waste due to the optimal bonus (no room for launcers), leaves a small number of mids and lows to work with. The damage used to be nice, but with the HP buff, the alpha strike isn't near as intimidating, and the DPS is sub-par as always.

Its problem is that it has very specific role, it can't solo and it has a high price for what you get...

I do like my Muninn, but I am going to slam 2 power grid rigs in it and see if I can fit 2 med NOS for when I use quake ammo might be a fun little toy.

I guess I can see that. I wonder if you really tweak that tracking speed with implants...it also has good damage bonus maybe you could get a high percentage of wreckings

Muninn is a fun ship. Definatly nothing solo
But as described has serious slot problems. I like to just go allll dmg. If you try to mix tank/gank your gonna suck at both.
my muninn ranges well up to 100k with strong hits. proton ammo works alright. but even with EMP you can hit 60k easy. for small roaming gangs this thing works awesome as it can lay down some firepower.
ALSO flying my vaga, i never got into much trouble. the one ship that i was screaming "SH*T!" as i tried to run, was a muninn makin it rain on me. of course, he was in a big gang with a rapier so i was MWDing away as fast as possible. Sig of a carrier.

The Muninn is good for its role, it's the best cruiser sized arty platform. In larger gangs, where it's important to lock and get damage on a target as quickly as possible the Muninn>Vagabond.
For roaming and solo the Vagabond provides good DPS and great survivability.
Choose the right ship for the right job.

Edited by: Mummas Boy on 29/06/2007 00:32:28 Muninn can be a great ship in roaming gangs.
put a sensor booster or two on it, maybe a tracking computer but more likely an MWD in the remaining mid.
A bunch of 720s in the highs with gyros and some basic reping capability in the lows.
Its has great locking time and can insta pop those ceptors that might normally get away from you

Seven out of eight HACs are overshadowed by their race's battlecruisers and command ships. The Vagabond with its extreme speed gets away from this.
I mean, look at the HAC/battlecruiser relationships Gallente: Myrmidons greatly outnumber Ishtars - price and far easier fittings Brutix out damages the Deimos and the Astarte is a far better ship in all respects.
Caldari: Cerberus - completely superseded by the Nighthawk Eagle - Vulture is a very similar ship, still very few takers
Amarr: Sacriledge - I haven't seen one of these things in forever Zealot - harbingers do similar things for cheaper, so you see more of these around.
Minmatar: Muninn - Hurricane = MOAR ALPHA - the extra range is nice, but the Hurricane has better fittings, and more slots, cost clearly gives the edge to the Hurricane. (unless you're trying to snipe pods) Vagabond - still the pwnmobile
The Hurricane is really a better AC platform than the Muninn - especially since its only 35mil compared to whatever Muninns are going for these days. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

Agreed, Muninn has too many high slots for an arty ship (or not enough turret slots )
