Ive been away for awhile, I come back to scan out some hidden belts for a friend. What did I find? I found I cant get a 100% lock on anything... Hell, I cant scan a damn thing now. Gravs & Radar sites & such have always been easy as pie to find, now I loose them at about 25%... alot like when I try scanning out a ship... (I have always sucked at scanning a ship), now I suck at scanning a grav site. WTF has CCP done?
any info would be grateful o/ |

Need to use more probes, max is now 7 I think, I usually run 4 on the plane and one above and below. |

filters are the same as before, sig sites only. I kinda figured CCP F-ed it up, like everything else here, THEY JUST CANT LEAVE IT ALONE!
Like I said, I suck at ship scanning, now they figured out how to make it so I suck at ALL scanning , PERIOD LOL  |

Dude, it's your filters. anything you scan to 25% or better that is identified by type will get filtered out unless you have them selected to scan for. |

Its actually easier to scan stuff down now mate, just use 7 probes instead of 4
Also you can use the alt key to make all the probes move closer to the center one (alt + drag) which saves loads of re-arranging em :)

I appreciate the info, I've always been a 4 probe guy...( I am a white boy after all hehe) so I'm thinking it's just gonna be a change I'm gonna have to get used to |

The problem was, before the server used the best of four (so if you knew what you were doing, only 4 were needed) and this cause problems for those using more than four.
Now it can use 8, and they all will have an effect. The best I've done was 5 with the new system, though no harder than a radar previously. |

I know what you mean... I use 5 probes, and before the update I found it easier to have a small edge proportion of the spheres overlapping the signature, but now I find it much easier to user 45%+ of the probes scanning-sphere.
If you can understand what I'm saying and it works for you, then great! If not, then you may need to update your skills. |

Yeah if its hard to scan move probes closer together really, I liked the symmetry of them working together but that is too far apart and get weaker results have to move them closer even if it feels awkward and ugly too.
Also use alt and ctrl to move probes not sure if ya do already or not.
Threads like this generally result in anything positive.

Never had a problem scanning tbh... Just smack a load of probes out and you'll find what you're looking for. Also, filters, just sayin'

OP must have lvl 1 scanning skills. I use 6 probes and never had any problems before and after Crucible. |

I see what my problem was, & understand now what you meant by the filters. Before , I had a "sig only" filter which found all sigs, radar grav & such. When I created a "grav only" filter, the scan would still pick up on all sigs, but at 20 - 24% the scanner was able to determine weather it was a grav site or not. Thus disappearing if it was not.
Still able to speed scan with 4 probes, & I love the new Alt key feature, cuts time in half spent in each system LOVE IT |

Lol, so the first replies were correct... and yes, CCP failed pretty nicely with the patch on that. On the first day wormhole dwellers were all "WTF?!?!" when they couldn't scan out wormholes to save their lives - they always "vanished" when probers got close to narrowing them down.
But once you know how filters now work, it's no problem.
