To put it bluntly.. eve online has too many pilots now.. and it has changed for the worse.

You want your "I Win" button reinstalled. I get it. You're used to being able to go out into the game world with your Solo-Pwn-Wagon-Of-Doom and kill unsuspecting players with mining or PvE set-ups, and thinking killing them actually means you've accomplished something.
You don't want to go out to 0.0 space where all the low-sec miners have gone -- because they know its safer out there and they can make more isk -- because it's too dangerous. You might, afterall, run into a blob that could actually kill you!!!
You, sir, are a hypocrite. You talk about risk-reward being out of wack, but that's just because you're not prepared to assume greater risk to get the reward. You want other people to assume the risk that you yourself refuse to assume. You think it's not fun to go out to 0.0 and risk being ganked by blobs, well you're just getting a bit of the same medicine that the people who now don't go out to low-sec anymore experienced.
Most of the old low-sec pirates have moved out to the pipelines, the NPC regions, and the primary jump points. They recognize that there are still places where you can get good kills on fat ships. The downside is you're actually going to face people who are organized, coordinated, and are willing to fight back. It sounds like you're more interested in shooting fish in a barrel rather than looking for a fair fight. There are plenty to be had out there, but you've got to be willing to take the same risks you're demanding other people take.
Your problem isn't the game mechanics, it's just a serious case of gottawinitis.
