Hey, quick question from a noob here.
What is up with the gates? Can you shoot people near a gate? I thought if you were doing that the guns would attack you. Do they attack you? Or only in 0.5 and above systems?
I know that CONCORD doesn't respond in 0.4- systems, but do the Gate turrets?
Also, do the turrets ever fire on someone with really bad security standing? If you have, say -9.0 security standing, will you be able to dock and use the gates? Of course you would in 0.0 space, but what about in Empire space?

If there are sentries around the gate, you need to sit 51+ km from them when improving the comunity.
Yes, gate and station sentries respond to n0rty people for 15 minutes.
Yes and no. Sentires and CONCORD respond to people with bad security status. At -5.0 they can't enter 0.5 to 1.0 at all, exept in a pod. You can legally attack it since it's -5.0 or below.
Yes, Bistrami, attacking a -5.0 is legal to do. But if you do, he can legally return fire.

Also, if you're into returning fire on people that gate ganks you, it means that not all people locking you are actually attacking you. Those people are not -5.0 or below.
So if you shoot at the wrong person, the sentries will respond, on you.
If you return fire, on legal or illegal targets, you can't jump for 60 secs. I don't know how many battleships that have been ganked by doing that.

A side note: when someone is attacking u and you return fire, be careful when using missles coz they might reach the target when it is already destroyed by sentry, hence resulting in your doing dmg to the pod and sentry being hostile to you.
I podded quite a few sods that way :0

Yes, also note that gate gankers can't use missiles on illegal targets because the sentries shoots them down.
Unless the missile boat is itself taking the sentry gun fire. That's fully possible to do.
Negotiator from m0o has a video about doing that. Scorpion destroys Maller and warps out without armour and struct damage.
