Why are we not aloud to have more than one skill training per account?????
This makes the other char slots useless.
Out of the 7 accounts I have only one has more then one char on it. That account has an Ore hauler that has maxed out for his job. The other char is an empire hauler and will not take long to max out his main skills.

There's your answer, 7 accounts, 8 characters, and you'd only be paying for 3 if you could train skills on the other characters. This is also done to stop people from simply training up specialized characters en masse. If they let all characters train skills then think of how easy it would be to have an alt for every combat type. So what if the name that shows up is different? having a 10mil character who flys covops, another 10mil guy with HACs and another with BS skills isn't really different from one guy with 30mil SP who can do all 3.

Since your attributes make so much difference in what you can train and do making multiple characters with different attributes and perhaps races can be useful. You could make a fighting character with more perception and willpower and a mining alt with more memory and intelligence for example. And if you want to mine for cash you transfer alts and mine and then send money to the other character.

Look at it this way. In many other MMO genre's you increase your characters abilities by being in the game and killing things to gain experience. But, you can't log in two characters on the same account at the same time and fight with both to increase their level/skills/abilities. Only one character can be increasing their skills.
Now in EVE, even though you can train (or level to use other MMO terms) while you are offline, you still can only be increasing one characters abilities at a time.
Considering this comparison to other MMO genres it shows that EVE is very much on par with other MMO's. In some ways it is even nicer in that you don't have to be online and active to increase your characters abilities.

Edited by: Kermis on 01/07/2007 18:49:05 Besides that, the other slots can be usefull for stuff. For example, I have am empire hauler in one slot (It only takes a few hours to get him in an industrial with the right starting profile), and my main lowesec/0.0 char in the other. Than, there's a 3rd disposable alt for when I need to scout for my outher account.
The other account has a miner/industrial char and a disposable alt. I use the miner char together with the hauler char from account 1.
So all in all, I have 5 chars and 2 accounts. They all have their purposes.
