If this is for pvp which i presume it is ( gang setup because you have no scrambler) then buy named tk1 mega pulse as the differnce in isk is pathetic but the damage output noticable.
Drop a sensor booster and stick a target painter on this will increase the amount of gd shots you get and give you a better chance versus the smaller ships, also helps your drones also.
I cant see why you have a reactor fitted as off the top of my memory theres only a couple of t2 mega pulsse setups ive used that have required the fitting of a reactor control.
Dont forget drones , 4 heavys and 5 lights ideally as this will make up for a 3rd of your damage in a real combat situation.
Id personally drop the 3rd hs and put a low slot tracking enhancer in or even another EANM but i do have 15mill in Amarr gunnery so maybe i dont see the differnece too much as you might?
Failing all this if your in a nice sized gang id rather scrap the mega pulse and fit mega beams ( named, dirt cheap ) and stick multis in for a better range and less swapping of crystals and better alpha strike. More range is better for jumping through and engaging hostile camps etc because youll obviously be more likly to atack who ever gets called primary.

Seeing the RCU suggests to me that you've not gotten at least AWU IV and/or Engy V, which is bad because someone without support skills like that shouldn't be in a battleship. Furthermore, if you're in a gank setup and not getting a lot of DPS then I'm guessing you don't have great gunnery or ship skills. ----------------

Lar Dcu 2x 1600mm 3x mag stab rcu
or
3x 1600mm dcu 3x hsII rcu and once you get awu, fill last slot for either with eanm, or if you want, take of dcu and use 2x eanms.

Amarr is playing eve on hard mode, in real combat without throwing facts and figures around most equivalant fitted bs will do same damage if not better.
To the original poster if you are this low on skills me ol mucka then maybe swap to another race as its not to l8, youll have more fun/options flying minmatar or gallante and a quicker skilling time to get to a usable level.

Would you prefer I say "get out of that ship noob, you're only 2 months old"?
Let's think about it. My statement, "if you're in a gank setup and not getting great DPS, then I'm guessing you don't have great gunnery of ship skills."
Maybe that means the gunnery or ship skills that increase damage? Large Energy Turret, Rapid Firing, Surgical Strike, Amarr Battleship. If you don't know these basics you shouldn't be dumping that much isk onto one ship.
A harbinger will do a lot more for you, as the ship is much easier to train for, you'll get more out of the ship for less skill and isk investment.
And to Wizard, I know perfectly well that Amarr is hard mode. I spend most of my time in my Absolution. In Minmatar space.

Highs-3 nos for every neut- go for large nos and medium neuts(if fitting is a problem) mids-MWD, webber, 24k scram lows-2armor reps, dcu, 3active hardners, 2x 1600mm plates
drones-5 heavys
With this setup you wont do a ton of dps (well you never really did much before anyways with your low skills) but you will kill any active tank- and if you stagger your nos and neuts you can kill a lot of cap booster set ups too.

Do not fit an all nos setup. Its lame and requires no skill and you will not get any kill mails out of it. Its also very boring :(
Try this
7 Dual heavy pulse (Best named ones are really cheap!)
Sensor Booster, Scram, Heavy cap Injector with 800's
2 Large armor Repairer 2 Eanm 2 1600 Plates 2 Heatsinks
4 Heavy drones 5 light drones
Use T2 where u can, if it where me i would fit up a harbinger with beams for gangs and gatecamping. Flying a geddon well requires a lot of skills.
PS: listen to Wizard, he is a clever chap.

Edited by: Tebis on 02/07/2007 02:09:47 dahak.. yes i know what skills add damage and i already can fly a harbinger .. i'm looking for setup/skill info.. not your personal opinion on whether i should fly it or not.. i was more asking about what skills to max first.. like does surgical strike give you more damage for the time put in.. or large energy turret first.. etc
thanks everyone else for the info.. i was looking into a nos/neut setup.. but not sure how effective that will be.. i'm particularly aiming at helping my corp take care of a couple people who gatecamp in a close system daily.. usually flying a drake/geddon/harbinger all fairly close to the gate..

I wasn't telling you not to fly a geddon but a better fitted harbinger will probably do more damage.
Get all the gunnery support skills and large energy turret to 4
Energy systems operation 5 and energy managment 4
Get drones 5 and drone interfacing 4
Get weapon upgrades 5 and then AWU 4
Skills like mechanic, hull upgrades and repair systems to 5 asap.
Thats what i would do

yea i know you weren't musey.. i just figured that with the same skills and same medium energy turret and large energy turret level.. (both of mine are currently at 3) that the geddon would outdamage a harbinger .. havn't actually tested it as my harb is currently setup for l3 missions and not for dps

Remember that large guns don't hit smaller targets as well as cruiser guns......
Caluclate the DPS between the 2 and see what u come up with.
A target painter and web drones can help you with hitting smaller ships.
I have 28mil sp and i do not consider myself a competent BS pilot. I do however rule with the harbinger and absolution.

ok, really good skills to train, obviously you said them: surgical strike lvl 5 large energy weapons lvl 5 amarr battleship lvl 5 all of the generic gunnery skills to lvl 4
start taking everything to level 4, you should be doing decent damage then. the level 5 skills are nice, especially BS since this will help with the cap usage on your guns.
other stuff. i wouldnt bother with mega pulse, go straight for dual heavy pulse, and please dont forget all of those other important skills you will need... mechanic, navigation, engineering and drone skills specificly. tech 2 wherever you can wont hurt your ships ability but may hurt your wallet if your flying pvp.

i thought mega pulses did more damage that dhps.. like from what i remember they have a bigger damage modifier but a slightly slower rof .. although dhps are easier to fit and i could drop the rcu

Edited by: Museyman on 02/07/2007 03:09:31 Mega Pulse do more damage than Duals.
Cap use is pretty extreme with mega pulse and MF crystals. With poor cap skills you will run out of cap just from firing guns. You will need the cap injector to keep it all running and that may be hard to fit with your skills and mega pulse. Try it all out on the test server if u like.
Train controlled burst up to 4 before rapid firing 4. Then take both to 5.

Let's think about it. My statement, "if you're in a gank setup and not getting great DPS, then I'm guessing you don't have great gunnery of ship skills."...
here i'll have to disagree on the first part of that statement and agree on the second part...
i wont discourage you from using a BS that early on...not unless you choose the soldier line in your character creation part cause you'll basically be starting with most of the basic gunnery skills and supporting skills as well...if you can pilot the ship then by all means find a good setup to do it decently...i flew a geddon when i was just 2 months old...an apoc later and now an abaddon for lvl4 mission..all done solo (i'm bout 4 months+ old now in eve )...i've not come across any cap issues cause i know my limits and i work within those boundaries...
on the second part...you do need good supporting skills just to get your cap stable...i hav all my gunnery support skills at round lvl3 and some at lvl4...cap based skills are at lvl5...
true you can do good dps...but sustainability is the order of the day...not to mention sustainability of your tank if you'r doing pve...
my advice would be to know your limits...get your supporting skills up...take your time in trying out higher tier ships...trust me...better to invest the time in training the skills to sustain your ship then spending the time farming the isk necessary to replace the lost ship...
well that's just my opinion though :)

how paper thin is that setup? i'm assuming if you get primaried you pop fairly fast.. i guess that is the same with most gank setups .. just seems like 3 trackings might be excessive

yea personally i would drop all those trackers for 2 eanm and another plate, then dump a sensor booster and add a tracking computer, and if you cant fit the mega pulse, drop down to dual heavy pulse. in fact just do it anyways :P

Edited by: Valadeya uthanaras on 05/07/2007 01:07:51 as amarr , you will never pull out as much gank than a gallente could, so instead of dedicating your ship only on gank, you should also aim to have a decent tank
if you want to keep it cheap
high
4 good-named Megapulse laser 3 good named Dual heavy pulse laser 1 heavy nosferatu
(nos is essential against small target, conter-effect agaisnt other nos, capacitor is the bigest issue with amarr ship)
medium:
2 sensor booster 1 good named medium electrochemical capacitor booster with charge 800s
(Booster will a lot substaining your gun, we still talk about 35+ capacitor per second, taking in account 1 charge each 13 sec, and no ammo in cargo except crystal)
Low:
these are the most tricky, but here what i found being the best possible, allowing my own geddon to solo stuff up to nos-rokh, nos-domi, ravens, scorp, megas , even fleet tempest ( my mid are different tought)
1 large 'accomodation' armor repairer(not so costly, t2 cost a lot more )
1 damage control t2 ( cheap, 60% hull resist)
2 'refuge' adaptive plating ( or t2) t2 are really cheap, but refuge are wonders, no cpu use, more resist than a energized t1
2 1600mm rolled tungsten ..... 18k armor ...
and finally 2 heat sink t2 ( get 2 of them men......simply, 3 are overstaking, when putting one more tank mod make a huge bonus)
not top gank, but with MF, decent skill , and a set of 5 ogre, over 700 dps easy
you will see, even if it not complete gank, geddon often get called in the first targets,( i am in caldari area tought 0.o)......
why....because over time, if you get shoot at for more than 150 dps, ( any cruiser deal more ) you will do more damage
oh and btw
make sure to always have a eccm radar in your cargo, if you are in empire war and a jammer appaer, fit that in station and ....
my setup use t2 guns, have resist rigs, and true sancha adaptive plating from when they were 3 mil each
to give you an idea of high end
we talk about 1000dps with drone
28k armor( slave set...) with lowest resist at 69
and, mine have a web and scram.......
let the other approach you, web, scram and teach it a lesson........
