With all that we have now and all that is coming, it is becoming painfully necessary to have an utomated logistical support system in EVE.
Corporations are getting huge and the fact of the matter is, no one wants to play for 4 hours just moving minerals and supplies for 10+ jumps
What is going on with the interbus system. Please CCP we need this. |

Are you serious, courier missions.
How does that work, is it NPC or player based?
Are you at the mercy of someone picking it up, that could take days, or is it like a NPC FedEx where it is shipped immediatly? |

Its diffently player based, I guess the more your willing to pay the faster it would get hauled.
Just like ground deliever is like 3 dollars for a letter and 12 dollars for standard overnight and maybe 20 for business morning.
Of course, if you find a hauler and you gaurentee steady work he would do it cheaper just like FedEx and UPS do.

Yeah..thats what I thought, but that is pretty much useless if you need something to get out right away.
the system I am thinking of will be like an interstellar UPS. You pay for distance/tonnage, and the system will take it there for you.
The reality is that we cannot seriously dleave the logistics of eve to the will of players deciding they want to do courier missions.
Time is a premium, and the prices get rediculous for just a few items. This is where reality and fantacy take a step apart.
Please do not make us waste our time traveling, this is a game, make it fun.

instant gratification
And I dont mind paying a premium for it, but instant gratification is not available since we are at the mercy of someone picking it up whenever they feel like it. |

Offer enough, and someone will.

This is how a corporation works, everyone has his or her tasks. You start at the bottom as ore mover, making your profit moving the ore to the station because your mining skills are less than those who mine. This is how you deserve your equal share of the profit/money made.
You don't have anyone in the corporation? Use courier missions you can set up, pay a price... notify people who done missions for you before and voila.. Theres your sollution.
Noone wants to, but if the price is right your able to get all your items moved asap. __________________________

Hmm, Crias... I think you miss several important concepts that are inherently against the notion of courier missions working.
1. Any item that a player wishes to haul would require an enormous collateral, or the people will just take the mission, thus "buying" your stuff. The whole point is not to have people "buy" your stuff, but to have your stuff moved.
2. Nobody who would want to do these kinds of missions (primarily newer players) will have the isk to afford collaterals. And if you have 800 million isk, you probably don't need to be playing long-haul trucker. I'm sure you can find more profitable and more fun ways to spend your free time.
3. Do you think that FedEx or UPS uses the slowest possible transportation device to ship goods? In real life, "indys" (tractor trailers) are no slower than personal vehicles. If they are slower, it isn't by much. Indys are so bloody painfully slow, that nobody would find this fun to drive one all day... Anyone who did find such activity fun should be evaluated immediately by a psychiatrist.
4. FedEx and UPS don't make any money by hauling stuff the slow way. They have airplanes and trains, and other things to hurry shipments. They also streamline shipments, by picking up from several places, loading onto an airplane, and then delivering backwards. That likely will not work in EVE because (a) there's no equivalent to an "airplane"; (b) the highway/"road" system is insanely messed up; and (c) it is far too dangerous.
So those are just 4 reasons, among many, why players won't fill the niche of UPS/FedEx. This should be an NPC system that works with those "convoys" we see out in space, although make it "fake" so our items always arrive... Or if they are destroyed have InterBus "replace" them for us...
Make us pay for the service, and so on. But it is a game, and I don't see anybody setting up a 24/7 trucking service...

Wait, do people actually *DO* courier missions in this game?

Well they used to...
Until castor borked up the rewards field. You
But they used to be a great..
A) source of income for newbe indy pilots.
B) a Super way of getting things moved about while you are doing something else.
I still don't know why its been a month and they can't fix this (re:won't) but I for one "use to" use them daily, for several million worth in rewards. And I payed gladly.
Now I sit with 172 stations worth of items in my assets window, that takes longer then the LOTR to watch open...
Pooo on you CCP !!!

What is going on with the interbus system. Please CCP we need this.
So you really want to remove one more thing from the scope of the whole Player to Player interaction and remove the ability for people to hijack your shipments?

Cuorier mission system is recognised as being largely bj0rked even by CCP.
There was supposed to be an NPC_Haulage system introduced with the beginning of Interbus, but, guess what?
Its still Soon Ö

EXACTLY!
Who the hell wants to spend their time doing these missions? Thats certainly not reson enought to log in. And the fact the peoples time is precious guarantees that courier type missions to be rediculously expensive.
Not to mention this could clear up an enormous amount of resources and headaches for corporations. allowinf them to run more efficients KNOWING that thier package is going to be delivered on time...as oppsed to HOPING it will get there on time. |
