These have been mentioned elsewhere but I figured I'd start a dedicated thread to try to gather information in regards to the new implants released in Revelations 2 that affect invention.
I am aware of six implants so far: ---------- Hardwiring - Poteque Pharmaceuticals 'Draftsman' GI-2 Hardwiring - Poteque Pharmaceuticals 'Draftsman' GI-1
Hardwiring - Inherent Implants 'Cleric' AI-2 Hardwiring - Inherent Implants 'Cleric' AI-1
Hardwiring - Eifyr and Co. 'Shaman' MI-2 Hardwiring - Eifyr and Co. 'Shaman' MI-1 ----------
Price seems to be 10875 LP and 10.8m for the weaker one and 79375 LP and 79.3m for the stronger one. All six implants take slot 9. The description for all six is "A neural Interface upgrade that boost the pilot's skill at invention." There are no attributes to clue you in as to what they do.
Do they increase success chance? Success chance at a certain type of invention? Lower invention duration?
I doubt we will know much more about these implants unless a developer wishes to comment on how they boost the pilot's skill at invention. We are still banging our heads trying to find a solid invention formula.
Here is a list of corporations that offer these implants (will update when I get new information):
Draftsman - Expert Distribution, Expert Housing, FedMart, Intaki Bank, Kador Family, Quafe Company, Supreme Court, Theology Council, TransStellar Shipping, Trust Partners,
Shaman - Unknown
Cleric - Unknown

Purely speculative, but I'm guessing 3% and 5% invention chance. Fits with balance and LP cost... (compared to other 3/5% implants).
Eg with the 5% chance one if before you have 50% chance you now have 52.5% etc...
As I said speculation. I believe someone has said they don't change the duration.

Edited by: Whip Slagcheek on 01/07/2007 19:54:51 There are three different names though. One would think they would have different effects as I don't know of different lines of implants that do the same thing ie there are many bean counter implants and they affect research in different ways.

If it were not for the fact that ive yet only seen the draftsmann implant around, I would have been tempted to think they gave a racial bonus, based on the fact that there are four of them. That would be slightly evil though...

So far though it looks like only the Draftsman ones are seeded, and they're available from corps of all 4 races....
I know the others are in the database ... hmm.... Interesting, maybe they were trying for a racial invention type but it didn't work out ?

Gallente, Amarr, Minmatar, Caldari... GI - Gallente Invention AI - Amarr Invention MI - Minmatar Invention CI - Caldari Invention
edit: Just logged in to check the corporations. Poteque Pharm is a Gallente corporation. Inherent Implants is an Amarrian corporation. Eifyr and Co is a Minmatar corporation. Zainou is a Caldari corporation.
The nicknames make sense now. Gallente 'draftsman.' Kind of an artsy flavor to it. Amarr 'cleric.' They're religious. Minmatar 'shaman.' Minmatar are more tribal. Caldari 'beancounter.' Caldari are known as expert capitalists.
My money is that they are racial specific. And since they all use the same implant slot, that ties you to one race for invention or you go get 4 jump clones with full sets of attribute implants and one of the racial invention implants and take turns what you invent.
Now if only we could get Ricdic to tell us which race he was having such tremendous success with with his new Draftsman implant. My guess is he's doing some kind of Gallente invention.
That actually makes perfect sense.
Ive got the GI-1 plugged in atm and ALL my invention jobs except 1 has failed since ive had it plugged in.
FYI my GI-1 was from the Leisure Studio Corp. (matari)

Eifyr and co., Minmatar corp has the BEANCOUNTER implants. The assorted types include reduction to copy time,ME Time,PE Time, plus lowering refine waste. Some very nice additions.

Hi.
I myself have the 'Draftsman' GI-1 implant (wanted to test first before getting the GI-2) and gained it from the Amarr R&D corp Carthum Conglomerate. I have yet to try it, but if it is indeed a racial implant that will probably stitch a few people up, as if I do have the 'Gallente' implant (from an Amarr corp ), I mainly do Minmatar invention, so hopefully I won't have to go find the Shaman implant if it is indeed racial. I really hope they aren't racial!
I'll be starting off some invention jobs sometime soon, so we'll see how it goes!

Edited by: Whip Slagcheek on 02/07/2007 21:35:06 I am aware that only one line of these implants is available currently and I am aware that it is available through all racial LP stores.
My thinking is that they failed in include all the implants and used one in place of all, they changed their minds about going racial and just used a single one but didn't change the database, or the designers' intentions for the implants and the reality of what is in the game are different for any number of reasons.
The coincidences of the lettering, corp name, and the fact there are four of them are hard to brush aside. I have no in game testing (and we can't use singularity as someone said they aren't there) to back up what I suspect.
We should know more with the patch. The notes state they are changing some things in the LP store so perhaps all the implants will be available in the game soon.
When I stated that the implants tied you to a certain race of invention, I meant that you would prefer to do the one that your implant benefits. I seriously doubt the implant would actually harm invention for another race; that would be way too cruel.

I searched my Carthum LP shop and haven't found a single invention implant. I even searched specifically for cyber science implants and still nothing. I can see all the other implants (for copying, me reasearch etc). Can you confirm that Carthum has invention implants? Should I try another station? Could that make a difference?

My mistake, I got the bpo copy time reduction implant (the Zainou 'Beancounter' K50) from Carthum, and the GI-1 from Imperial Shipment. Wasn't really paying attention at that time, so excuse me for that!

Oh god. It's extremely likely that you're right, and that 75% of the people buying invention implants have made a bad decision due to wrong descriptions. However, we will be able to verify this when the data export comes out.
My theory is based on the observation that: - skills, hardwirings, everything has a typeid. - there is a table that links 'effects' to typeids. - where there is a skill and a hardwiring that have the same effect, they are linked to the same effectid. - I wasn't able to find any (rev1) hardwirings with effects that weren't also the effect of some skill (possibly unpublished skills)
Therefore I reckon that the invention skills and invention hardwirings behave in the same way: they are racially linked.

whip...very clever observations. Makes perfect sense.
I noticed when I loaded up recent invention attempts in a lab there there are time modifiers (skill based) and material modifers (skill based). Ive never noticed them before rev II (anyone else notice them before rev II?) and seeing as how there are not material or time skills affecting invention I assumed 2 of the 4 invention implant types will apply here.

The modifier were there, only they were wrongly displayed.

Post patch update:
They failed to implement the other 3 races' invention implants. We can only assume this is a huge oversight or they don't intend for the implants to be racial even though they have racial designations in their name. Ricdic's comments about hugely increased invention success chances with his inventions seem to be in-line with my hunch since he is doing Gallente invention (strip miners). I haven't heard anyone say the GI implant has helped their non Gallente invention.
Furthermore, I bug reported that they had added the AI-, CI-, and MI- series into contract item types but failed to add the series that is actually in the game (the GI- one). Their response was that this is an intended feature of the game.
So just to let you know, CCP intentionally wants to waste your time. You can search for things on contracts that don't exist but if you want something that actually is in the game, you will have to spam channels.

Another possible explaination:
Only the GI- version will be available from the LP store and the rest are only found via Exploration sites. If so the conclusion that the implants are racially related would be wrong. ----------------------------------------------- Why do I post here?

None of the 6 other implants are on contracts. No one has reported finding these implants. I haven't heard of implants ever coming from exploration sites.
I would think if someone had found a MI-2 implant by now it would be on contracts for 1 billion isk.

Just for the thread .. I have most likely been to more LP Stores then anyone else .. every1 that I been to ..has been logged into my LP Store DB..
The only implant I have listed for invention is the Draftsman one !
