For the next stage for the Need For Speed optimization of EVE, can the dev's please remove all moons that have nothing in them in terms of minerals? I can understand the need for moons full of useless minerals, but why waste space in the database storing data for moons that do nothing?

provides content,
storeing moons in the data base, doesnt cause lag, just space. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels and filesize of 24000 bytes -Taiatia ([email protected]) |

There are enough empty moons with useless minerals in them that we could delete all the empty moons and still have lots of room.

while we are at it, we should remove all characters that do not contribute any hair to the forum. they cause lag because the server have to render the shiny glint off their scalp. -=#=- Angry beer bottles make Kaemonn a sad panda

I like all the 'useless' moons because it just makes EVE seem bigger imo.

Better yet, Remove all secure cans from space that have not be used in 1 week. Remove the insane number of stations in system.
Allow eve to continue processing while its waiting for db data from the server. The game freezing up every time you do something with the market, gang, etc is just stupid. -- *snip* Your signature exceeds the maximum filesize (24,000bytes) and also the signature dimensions 400x120 pixels -TheDagda ([email protected]) |

How much would this change reduce lag by?
I would guess, less than 0.00000000000000000000000000000001%. But the OP must have done the sums, before he posted his idea. Care to share you sums.

Clearly you've never seen the tactics when trying to take a station in a system with 80 moons in it. Most POS's win, you say...? --------

Maybe they should remove all the systems that aren't that useful?
The ships that aren't that popular?
A subset of players chosen by lottery?
These and other pointless suggestions are brought to you by the EVE-O Fora. -

Why does EVE have backgrounds? these pictures are useless too, and why do we have textures and even effects? Why don't you just play a game where you can remove these things on your own? One reason to play eve is, it LOOKS great and there are no useless things. All gamers are about to reduce a game to useable things, if you do, you have nothing left except numbers and some bits and bytes without any graphical UI. _______________________ Mining makes mad |

I see this is just a thinly veiled attempt to get Blueprint Haus (the 30+ corp) removed from the game. Clearly you can't beat us any other way!

Removing moons from the database will do nothing useful at all for the lag problems that people encounter. Databases really don't mind if you store a lot of data in 'm either, thats actually what they are supposed to do.
