The long boats are comin !!!! THE LONGBOATS ARE COMIN !!!
That suave beast called the `Hurricane` on the start screen before the log on interface///It is modeled from a Vi-King longboat isn't it?

Would CCP be secretly planning a new Vi-king invasion upon Europe soon then?....lol. Because if they are, hurry up already, I'll call up the sea beasts to help in the entertainment Earth desperately craves for right now...
Most exquisite ship design since the `Prophecy`.

I believe the inspiration for the design of the Hurricane really came from a ripped up cardboard box.

Minmatar ships are Norse Mythology all the way...
I thought about a star destroyer - although the hurricane is quite small in comparison :D

A. the hurricane looks nothing like a viking longship. B. it's longship not longboat. C. it's viking not "vi-king". D. the hurricane is quite clearly a ripoff of the old PSX game "WipeOut".

I wish those Eve universities taught history and enfgilsh grlammer as well as gblmanners....hahaha hawhawhaw!!!! *sigh*..good hunting people. Thanks for the giggle...
Now that was handed to me on a platter...haha

Is it me or does his grammar deteriorate rather ironically as he goes on to talk about English Grammar, or 'Enfgilsh Grlammer' as he calls it?

Okay, wasnŠt gonna do this, but since iŠm bored. And scandinavian, so this is sort of my heritage...
HereŠs what Wiki says on the topic of "Viking". The word that is, not the person.
The etymology of "Viking" is somewhat vague. One path might be from the Old Norse word, vfk, meaning "bay", "creek", or "inlet", and the suffix -ing, meaning "coming from" or "belonging to."
Now, what i want to show here, is that the proper division of the word can never be Vi-King, since the words are "Vik" (still used in my native tongue btw), and the suffix "-ing" (also still used in these parts).
The next bit of text is included for those who feel the need to learn more about the actual meaning of the word, but feel free to skip it if not.
Thus, Viking would be a 'person of the bay', or "bayling" for lack of a better word. In Old Norse, this would be spelled vfkingr. It may be noted that Viken was the old name of the region bordering on the Skagerrak, from where the first Norse merchant-warriors originated. Later on, the term, Viking, became synonymous with "naval expedition" or "naval raid", and a vfkingr was a member of such expeditions. A second etymology suggested that the term is derived from Old English, wfc, ie. "trading city" (cognate to Latin vicus, "village").
Now the text on Wikipedia goes on for quite a bit on the whatnots and whatevers of vikings and such, but my point has been made at this point I hope. Also, I have to admit that wiki texts are not infallible, and that ofc, if necessary, I can supply from lenghty book-form works, further evidence to the origin of the word. Oh, and the web adress ofc, lest this thesis be proven false on point of missing source data: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking

On a different note, I agree with the Op, that it is very cool how the minmatar ships mostly get their names from Norse mythology. And yes, the Hurricane looks good. ________________________________________________ "DonŠt worry yourself, everything is everything" |

I think the Hurrican looks lilbit like the ships from Space2063-above&beyond. Tv Series. The Chigs have flow kinda similar ships :)
Beside of that. The Hurrican is just awsome. If i could i would sleep with mine.

The only thing a longship and a Hurricane class BC have in common is the color.
In conclusion, the OP needs to lay off the beer, get some fresh air and sunlight and reconsider his place in society. |
