Ok.. So like, Sympatico is a Canadian ISP, which is probably the worst ISP in Canada.
Right now I am on Sympatico High speed DSL, which most of the time runs at 56k speeds not to mention likes to randomly disconnect on me. I friend of mine who is using the same ISP is having the same issues(As well as alot of their other users)..
Not to mention high speed DSL(128k) costs about 35-40 dollars a month(I can get a 2mb line from another ISP for 30 dollars a month). Also they like to throw in other usless **** like "MSN Premium" which provides "Protection"(In all likly cases its probably spyware, and lags up your computer.
Also Bell(who owns Sympatico) spends most of their money and bull**** advertising saying that Sympatico is oh so fast, and steaming videos will never lag(Bull**** they do. The reality is they are crap, and spend most of their money on advertising instead of improving their service.
Never use Sympatico if you live in Canada. its ****!

Except I also live in the UK and can't get those speeds for little money due to the crappy lines going to my house. It's not all good

In the Uk your kinda dependent on where in our wonderful and ancient phone network you live. Too far from an exchange, bad luck, no dsl for you.
Still with the exchanges being unbundled and the market opening up ~ú35 quid a month 28mbs lines are comming onto the market. Just imagine you can play eve, download ... music and videos and do a whole bunch of other stuff I can't think of at the moment all at the same time.

was on a three year Contract(which ends next month), plus up until now my mom Loved Sympatico, I remember three years ago getting into a fight with her about it being a bad idea, I warned her not to fall for it, but oh know, we had to go with what the TV said.(Yes I still live at home)
You can get a 10mb line here for around 50-60 dollars Canadian(ú25-ú30) threw different ISP's. Also I am not sure how old the phone lines are here(Knowing Bell Canada, old as ****)

ditch sympatico and go with a real connection... cable.
their pppoe implementation is fudged... you'll find your traffic gets routed through different cities every time you connect. or at least it did the last time i fixed someone's computer with bell. --gordo |
