What is the "real" cost of maintaining a POS? Every time I do the calculations looking at the attributes on the towers, based on fuel usage it says to expect, I come up with absolute insane numbers. There is no way that a small POS costs 56m+ isk/month to maintain!
Does anyone know the real scoop on fuel requirements for these things?

Depending on fuel costs in your area, 40-50m maybe right. Especially true if you are using a non-regional tower (Caldari tower in Gallante space for example), as you'll need to transport fuel from the proper region or pay higher rates for it locally.
Medium towers require twice the fuel of Smalls.
Large towers require twice the fuel of Mediums (4x Small).
Plus of course the cost of the investment in time... Tower and module costs... etc. Thus for a lot of small to medium operations it's actually not a cost effective solution.

Time cost in anchoring/onlining structures (even longer to take one down), you can perform one operation at a time per control tower. See anchoring/online time for each structure you plan on putting up.

yeah 50ish per small per month sounds about right - minus the time. It's the time that kills. Carrier runs, anchor / onlin / offline / unachor -one-module-at-a-time time, weekly refueling, repairing, reloading, maintaining...
And money aside, people wonder why other people complain about the POS' role as the supreme overlord of 0.0 life. _______________ Pwett CEO and Founder [QTC]QUANT Corp.
