Hey guys, First off i am not in game atm so cant give exact setups, but i wanted the opinion on my 2 setups and to get some opinion origs that will suit my play style.
unless stated everything i have is tier2 with the excpetion of the launchers on the raven. also please dont suggest the gist expensive factino stuff i just cant afford it rightnow.
These setups are for "general use" and level 4 missions (in a gang not always solo).
Raven:
the idea here is to be able to shield tank, i am finding i am having a issue with cap however.
highs 6xlaunchers-named 2x Heavy-Nos
Mediums (here is where i have the issue). 2x Large S ExtenderII's 1x Large Shield Booster II 1x Boost amp 1x PAssive EM hardener II (forget the module name its the passive one tho) 2x Invulnerbility II's
Lows 3x BCU IIs 2X Pds II
The problem i am having is that i seem to run out of cap pretty quickly when boosting my shield. i have been considering removing a extender and putting some kinda of cap booster in there, but i really like the large shield buffer (its about 17k).
my other idea was to off set my issue with rigs, namely 2x of the rigs that reduce booster cap drain, and something to extend my cap and leave my setup as it is (changing hardeners as needed).
i am fairly new to the world of level4's so advice (without flaming would be great please).
ok on to the cerberius....
comments on this would be great, as i really dont know what to do with it.
currently 5x tech II heavy launchers
Med 1 techII AB 1 med sheild booster II 1 large sheild extender II 1 EM passive resistance hardener II
lows 3x BCU 1 PDS II
for rigs i was thinking of setting up for rate of fire and damage on missiles but i really dont know if thats a good idea, i want to be able to lay down decent DPS with it but know very littel about common rig setups, i coud rig up to help tank but imo isnt a cerberius always gonna be a crappy tank?
Please help guys ;)

You don't need to have a perma running tank for level4 missions. 1-2 PDS II and 3x CCC are normally enough to handle a XLSB2. Maybe a heavy nos or 2 medium, but not really necessary.
A hint: If you use active tanking, don't waste slots on extenders. They're only an (unneeded) buffer but don't enhance your tanking. Better use another hardener oder a second boost amp. Standard level4 tanking is: 1x XLSB2 2x SBA2 3x rat-specific hardener 2
Another hint: Since rev2, caldari navy tanking modules are easy and relatively cheap to get, but are much easier to fit and don't require T2 skills at all.
About the cerb: If it's as a collector's item, well... okay. If you want to actually use it... get a drake. It is superior to the cerb in every (relevant) aspect. -- This game is still in beta stage |

Edited by: Shebeth on 04/07/2007 10:57:59 lse + sb = completly useless in pve.
try : high 6 launchers ( best u can afford ) 2 what u want ( drone link, tractor, railgun, nos... ) med : sb ( most important module, try pith xtype large or gist xlarge, other xlarge cant perma tank until u use officer pds; yeah i know u are poor but this module is the key ), one u can perma run, 1sba, 4 hardeners ( or 3 + sensor booster / painter ) low : capa flux coil until u can perma run ur fit and bcu in the free slots. ( with the 4 min of lag in mostu u need perma tank )
3 ccc rigs. And forgot the omni tank until u got a god tank.
remember lse in pve with active tank is stupid.

Hmmm, you really ought to have just looked in the stickied threads, but i'll help you anyway.
First off, the raven mids are all wrong. They should be something along the lines of:
X-Large Shield Booster Shield Boost Amp 4 x Hardeners or 3 Hardeners and another boost amp/cap recharger.
You will never be able to run the shield booster permanently. You are not meant too. What you do is let them take your shield down to around 30-50% (wherever you are comfortable) then run the booster for a few cycles until your cap reaches around 30% then stop. Let the shield run down while the cap recharges, then boost again for a bit. You can only permanently run the gist boosters.
As for rigs, its boring but 3 CCCs (cap recharge) rigs will help you the most. Missile damage rigs arent ideal because they are stacking nerfed with the BCUs, meaning they would only actually give approximately 3% boost.
And finally, your missing a slot in the cerberus, it has 5 midslots. The last should be used for another hardener. Fitting CCCs on the cerb will help too. The cerb can have a good tank too, use just need to make use of its size and speed. So always orbit large ships or objects so that the guns cannot track you. In this case, getting a Gisti booster (or Pithi) would really help the cerb since they re ideal for it.

Here's my Raven setup that will run your booster permanently. Level 4 missions are a cake walk solo.
Raven Setup
High 6x Arbalest Cruise Launchers 1x Drone Link Augmentor I 1x Heavy Diminishing NOS
Medium 1x Large Shield Booster II 1x Shield Boost Amplifier II 3x Mission Specific Active Hardeners II 1x Cap Recharger II
Low 2x Ballistic Control System II 1x Power Diagnostic System II 2x Capacitor Flux Coil II
Rigs 3x Capacitor Control Circuits I
It's the perfect balance between flexibility, survivability, and DPS. Plus it is incredibly cheap as it doesn't need faction mods.

guys,
first off thanks for the input i really appriecate it.
so from what your saying if i want to active tank a raven i need to use cap rigs and ditch all the extenders (shame i like having a big shield number :().
i will probably for one more hardner and then another shield boost amp :)
thanks guys i really really appreicate it. :)

if you like big shield numbers, use a drake. It has 17K shield as well. And tanks better than a T2 fitted raven :D -- This game is still in beta stage |

Edited by: kidrob on 04/07/2007 20:20:18 I can run every Level4 Mission with my Cerb - and its really much fun with it - Drake is good, too but "Cerb is Cerb"!
This is my Fitting atm:
5x Heavy Missile Launcher II's 1x Medium NOS
1x Large Shieldbooster II 2x Aktive Hardener II (Missionspecific) 2x Cap Recharger II
2x PDU II 2x BCU II
Rigs: 2x CCC
---------
Its a really great tank and u can go in every Level4 Mission with it! -> Niiiiice Cap regenerate rate!
But u need a Dread Guristas (around 40m isk) or better X-Type Large Shieldbooster to get the NOS online - but it isnt needed...
Dont use your suggested Med SB...NPC's will laugh about it!
Jear-its true-not much firepower - but fun anyway!

I use a different strategy to the one mention above.
1 unit of cap returns multiple units of shield, so try to maintain cap at maximum recharge.
The moment I start taking damage I run my Shield Booster until my shields are full. I keep doing this to drop my capacitor to ~33% which is roughly maximum recharge. I then maintain my cap at this level irrespective of my shield levels. If I start dropping to armor I turn on the cap boosters.
My lvl 4 setup is:
Hi: 6x Arby Cruise, Drone Link Augmentor Med: X-L SB II, 3x Active Hardeners II, SB Amplifier, Cap Booster (800's with 16 units in my cargo) Lo: x3 PDU II, x2 BCU II
I've done every mission (excluding 'bonus' areas) with this setup -no rigs required. Loot & salvaging is done in a purpose fit Destroyer.

I disagree with this last part alot where u put not much firepower.... I got a good laugh out of that If u r spec. in missles or just even have good missle skills put in fury missles when killing the bs in lvl 4s and i can take them faster then my raven could. With a rof about 5 secs streaming furys i thought was a dang good way of killing them. Not to mention i havent even tried missles rigs on it yet. Thinking about going with damage rigs bcz my tank is good enough.

My cerb setup for level 4's is:
5x HML II
10mn AB II med booster II LSE II invuln II/EM II cap recharger II
cap flux coil II 3x BCU II
EM res rig CCC
As soon as I get a pithi a-type small booster I'll be able to drop the recharger for another hardener, preferably DG or CN for the fittings/cap use.
