Not quite sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes.
As a player with a visual acquity of less then 20/200 (10% of normal vision)I just wanted to comment and thank you for the recent changes of Rev II and the latest patch. It has made playing this game even more enjoyable.
The default color schemes of Rev II (Light on dark, instead of dark on light for text areas)has been MUCH easier to tolerate.
After logging on yesterday after the patch and noticing the adjustable chat text size and seeing how big you can actually increase it, I was overjoyed, WOW!, nice, I can actually read the conversation chat text without burying my head in my 32" monitor.
Thanks again for putting forth the effort to help out us minority players who are often forgotten about. It would be great if I could run at an unber resolution of 1900xwhatever but that is not an option for myself.
The simple small changes that you have made have benefitted many a player such as myself. I just wanted to let you know it was noticed and well appreciated.
Keep up the good work, Thanks again.

Now if CCP please think of the red-green blind and rework the module buttons or put an option in the menu. Its just a color code, small change.
Thanks

OMG!!! Fail on sooooo many levels! 1) This is eve-o, the eve forums, you are here to whine! 2) CCP never do anything good, they are ebil and steal our isk....ehhh money, and there is nothing we can do about it. 3) How dare you be happy about something?!? My [insert cookiecutter-setup here] got nerfed so I am a sad, sad panda :( 4) You did not mention lag, any post on eve-o must contain at least a little bit of lag winhe. 5) Everything was better before, all changes are for the worse, even if they do exactly what I was screaming about 6 months ago.
There, try no make a proper post next time!
Ohh, and by the way CCP, fix the freaking lag!!! **************************************************
Nice to see that someone actually dares to give praise as well, well done Heavymetal. / Kayleigh

Yes, unfortunately I suffer from Rod Monochromatism (color blinddness) as well :( That would be a most welcome change as it would be eassier to tell the difference :)

That large of a monitor is more of a necessity to me then a luxury. Although tempting, your offer for the time being must be declined. I don't drink so I don't need a kidney. Already have kids (God help me) and my current girlfriend would kick my ass if I took you up on it :P

We've actually put quite a lot of effort into increasing usage of icon-helpers vs green/red -colors and will be continuing to do so ... There's no need to hang this on the wire like we're not actually doing anything about it, trust me, I take this matter quite seriously.
We're looking into different possibilities on adressing this issue on every front.

How about less of a dependence on sound for the hard of hearing and deaf players? :( It's impossible to hear Eve's notices like scramble noise and warp preventing situations (It's been a while since I've heard them but they're there!).
By the way - glad to see you still around? (any chance you could prod whoever needs prodding for a static asset database dump or webservice?)

Great, so are we talking weeks or months, or next year before a possible solution? You realize yours is the first "official" post we've had in regard to this issue and a lot of players have been complaining about it since Rev 2 was released.

Please explain to us then, as if we were incredibly stupid and we couldn't understand otherwise, why is a non-transparent-pulsating-based, non-red-green based interface so hard to develop.
No, I'm not personally colour-blind, but the soft pulsating glow of TRANSPARENT buttons is quite misleading even to me. First order of bussiness, allow us to turn button transparency off completely, and even add a black border (or drop shadow) to that area of the interface. Second order of bussiness, instead of pulsating colouring, just change the colour to one you pick.
However, I do have a severely color-blind friend (been friends for over 10 years now), In his own words, he doesn't distinguish much of any colour at all, it's all basically shades of grey for him. So, if you want to make it really, really easy for colour-blind people, you'll simply pick background colours for the buttons in such a way that the grayscale image status is also easily distinguishable.
You say you take the matter seriously, and you make every possible effort... but sorry, we just don't see it. And what about the above things ? Were these even considered as options yet ?

I have to say the transparency thing never bothered me once. Until I went into a system with a background which matched the green hues of the HUD. At that point it's pretty much impossible to tell what's activated and what's not, short of twisting the camera until you're looking straight up or straight down where there's not as much nebula.
Which really takes away from the presentation of the experience, to put it mildly.

What about using shapes? Circle when the module is off, the way it is now. When you turn on the module the interior of the icon becomes a square. Or something like that.

Well, yeah, I like to travel the world of EVE, and I did that with my first trial ever. So, basically, I've been to places so bright I could barely see the interface, to places greenish enough that I couldn't discern which buttons were active, and to places reddish enough I couldn't tell if a module is off or just deactivating now. And it all happened in the first week of EVE-play

Personally I am quite often problems to see if a module is activated or not becausethe green heat button makes it for me difficult to see the green glow unless I keep staring at it for a few seconds. But these things should be visible at a glance.
IMO the heat button should be removed entirely and instead let us turn on/off heat by for example ctrl-leftclick. This would also make it very hard to accidently turn on heat and will IMO also make it easier to turn heat on quickly when you really need it.

I have to agree about the new module blinking, it's a step in the wrong direction. It's harder now than pre RevII to see if a module is active or not, especially in systems with green and/or bright colored backgrounds.
Great changes with the text and readability though, big improvement.

I have to agree with most of the posters here. I like the new text coloring/fonts, the new interface. I don't even mind the little buttons for heat.
But the dull pulsing green for active modules sucks. My optometrist says my eyes are still pretty good, and in half the systems I'm in I can't see what is on/off because of the backdrop. Who passed that mess through QA? <-----------> Factional Warfare:
