Is this true?
It requires a certain suspension of disbelief to understand that something so fundamental to the basics of piracy would be considered "illegal". I've done it plenty of times and when I was a little carebear had it done to me just as often. Has something changed in the last year?

It enables him to attack you and kill you so no, that is not grie...well it is griefing but not the petionable sort

Thats not griefing,
you've stolen the stuff from him, and blew up your own stuff.
A bit wasteful but cant see how it could be considered griefing.

actually this is on a grey area, me thinks.
stealing ore is all good and proper. flipping a can and then ransoming the miner for its contents is also fine. and if the miner doesnt pay, of course you blast the can.
but flipping the can, then blowing it up just for kicks, thats a slightly different ballpark. it serves no purpose... aside from griefing, that is.
Edit: but i doubt its petitionable unless you keep doing it to a particular person.

Last I heard about the issue, flipping the can then destroying it without attacking the miner or offering ransom was considered petionable if done repeatedly to the same people. Then again, that was quite some time ago so the ruling may be different now.

BUT, if the person you are doing it to offers no conversation, has a name like hjkfg or hjerew or something, and continues mining away after you blow up his ore, then by all means work away.

i do it everywhere i go..
found a group of miners out in 0.0 in my helios.
whizzed up to their 8 jetcans- unstealthed.. fliped and destroyed.. came back 5 minutes later and they had 16 jet cans full

Why did you bother flipping it in 0.0? You could have just destroyed their can.
