I'm a new player, and looking to enjoy Eve in the way I want. I want to be a trader, but also have a good combat potential as well. Mining and diplomacy outside trading do not interest me as much, I would probably make an alt or something to do that.
My ?'s are what is a good race and profession path to take for this. Its all kind of overwhelming to me, and I don't want to spend a couple weeks in the game and then find I made a bad choice earlier. Thanks a million! Vaeldas

There is no bad choice. You can train what ever you want without any restrictions, so even if you start as amarr it would not hinder you to crosstrain for Gallente ships for example. And even if people want to get it right from the start because they are afraid they loose a day or two on training times.. there is nothing to loose anyway, everything you would avoid training is something that you need sooner or later anyway. May it be some industrial skills ( because you need to produce ammo maybe ) or may it be some odd Hauler skill because in the region you are is not a single industrail ship of your choice avaiable ... ect ect pp.
Just go ahead and try ... the worst case that happens is that you learned something that you need later anyway. And a month after getting into the game you realise anyway that a training time of 5 days is a gift .. while you look at thoose nifty times of 30 days for needed skills at LV IV - V :-)
Have fun,

I believe trader relies on Charisma, which is otherwise the worst stat in the opinion of many because so few skills are trained based on Charisma. Perception first and Willpower second for a fighter pilot. Intelligence first and Memory second for many scientific and engineering skills, probably research and construction I'd guess too.
My friend is a trader based all around Charisma and he's made hundreds of millions in a few months I think. But if you want to fight too maybe you want to balance things out a bit more.
Maybe put Charisma and Perception as your top priorities with Intelligence and Willpower secondary and Memory as a low priority?

uhm .. he hasnt made millions of ISK because of his charisma heheh he maybe got a little bit less training time on his trade skilsl and therefore saved a 0.x % of taxes .. the other part is that he bought and sold smart and that a personal thing that has nothing to do with ingame stats Originally by: CCP Wrangler Am I reading this correctly?
