I know you loose implants, but do you lose anything else when you have an up to date clone? Do you loose skills in training?
What do you lose if you don't have an up to date clone?

Edited by: WGAnubis Marrith on 06/07/2007 03:40:14 If your clone is up to date all you lose is your implants and nothing else.
If your clone is NOT up to date you lose skill points, whatever your current clone cant cover. For example, if your clone covers 2 million and you have 2.5 million, your going to lose 500k worth of points which translates to lost time.

AFAIK it's 5% of what's not covered - so in this case it's 5% of 500k = 25k loss and that's taken from your highest ranked skill or skills.
I've never been silly enough to let my clone get out of date, so I don't know from experience, but sooner or later I WILL be that silly and be able to give a definitive answer.

Does that mean that once you get podded, if you forget to buy another clone and get podded again, you will become a rookie all over?

When you get podded, you lose:
1. Any implants you currently have in your head (ALWAYS) 2. One level from your highest-SP skill (if your clone stores fewer SP than you currently have)
So, for example, if your clone stores 800k SP, you have 2 million SP, your highest SP skill is Gallente Frigate V, and you get podded, you will lose one level's worth of SP from Gallente Frigate, bringing you down to Gallente Frigate IV. ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |

Oh that's interesting... only a 5% hit? Can anyone confirm that?
My guide doesn't accurately reflect this possible fact. -

After looking through the answers, it's probably 5% of what's not covered, taken from your highest-SP skill, but capped at 1 level's worth of SP. So you can never lose more than 1 level's worth of SP at a time (but given that skills can get pretty high in SP, that's a lot.) ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |

I can at least confirm it isn't ALL of the difference, I've heard reports of experienced characters forgetting to update their clone and they lose something along the lines of 1-2 rank 5 skills, they don't get reset back to 900k or whatever

I take it that this dispute is because everyone makes a point to not get "cloneless podded" enough to really be sure of the answer.

I tested it on an alt once. Results were consistent with "(up to) 5% of the skill with most SP is lost" and not consistent with "you lose all unprotected SP".
There have been reports of a bug along the lines of the following: - "total SP" display is only updated when you complete or switch skills - however, uncompleted skills are added when considering whether your clone is up to date
If you have a 24msp clone and 23.5msp shown on your character sheet, but are 90% of the way through a long skill, you might lose SP on podding. So it's a good idea to have "headroom" on your clone.

I tested this extensively when Revelations was first released on Singularity.
You lose 5% of the difference between your current SP and what your clone covered. If you forgot to upgrade your clone, you'd have the basic (900K) clone.
This SP is taken from your skill with the most SP in it.
This loss is limited to 50% of the total SP in the above skill.
Washell Olivaw has some good examples in that link Gojyu posted.

I think you get bumped down to the most basic of basic clones if you don't repurchase a new one after losing one. Don't quote me.
