Edited by: Urban Mongral on 07/07/2007 10:32:22 Every week in the Warp Drive Active PodCast Winterblink (The Canadian) and Urban Mongral (the Brit) will bring you the goings on in EVE (except for the stuff we miss, forget or deliberately ignore).
DOWNLOAD EPISODE #1
Yes after last weeks success the first proper episode of WDA podcast is ready. We are now part of the Virginwolds podcast collective. The podcast was recorded on Wednesday so its a little bit out of date.
In the show this week:
Winterblink nearly gets his Hyperion blown up by some NPC's while Urban drowns in a sea of isk spam.
Urban gets totally owned over this weeks patch
The lads like the DirectX 10 ship models, its a shame that Windows Vista is still really bad
Desync's are still a big headache for some
Oveur doesn't talk in leet any more and we think its our fault. In his recent interview with MMO Gamer he talks about joystick based combat. Winterblink copyrights the phrase "lagstick"
Ambulation doesn't impress Urban, but Winterblink think it will help recurit some hawt chix.
EVE meet today in London (TODAY!) be there or be or be a carebear.
For homework during downtime this week (apart from the stuff you should do anyway), you are to read The Handmaids tale by Margaret Atwood
We rate really well on the Geek Hierarchy
And Winterblink still hasn't made me the sig he promised! |

Well it looks like timezones are on my side once again, and Urban beat me to writing up the show notes while I slept peacefully. :)
Hope everyone finds the first proper episode (numerically speaking) entertaining. We drift around a bit, but it's mostly EVE's fault for not being overly newsworthy over the last week. :)
Enjoy!

There is two lots of new models in development, the new DirectX 9 ones and the new DirectX 10 ones which are going to be part of EVE vista |

oh I haven't seen anything about this yet. I just heard about DX10 effects and bloom and shadows and stuff. but was told in that dev blog the models were DX9
all in all this is just intertation of words and thus isn't important. I understand your saying the DX10 looks awesome but vista sucks. and we can all agree with that :) ----------------------------------- I'm working my way through college target CCP |

Although you guys do great work and don't take this as 'flaming' or what not, because iTunes is subscribed to the podcast already. However! Volume on Episode 0 was decent, seems to have been reduced this episode, which as I mention to Michael of PODDED: Podcast, is a problem for me (What ever happened to him!?). Something about an iPod and a motorcycle and not crashing because I was trying to listen to a low podcast instead of driving. :) --- Your RIGHTS are a PRIVILEGE, don't abuse them.

Much better than episode 0, sounds a lot less scripted. All I'd ask is please don't talk over music.

Edited by: Urban Mongral on 08/07/2007 00:19:51 This weeks show was a bit shorter than I would normally like it to be (We are aiming for about an hour per episode), partly because it was a quiet news week (especally compared to the week before) and partly because the we were planning to interview/interrogate a notable person.
Unfotunatly he forgot to take his headset with him, but with luck we will get the interview done in the next few days so it can be put in next weeks show. |

Nothing about these is scripted to begin with. :) We usually just have a rough series of point-form things to talk about and a general sequence (news first, then etc. (yes, it's that complicated)).
Personally I prefer the laid back approach.

I didn't mean to imply that it was scripted, just that it sounded that way in your first attempt, and that it got better the second time. I don't blame you, it's hard to make it sound like a casual conversation in front of a microphone, especially the first time.
I still would appreciate it if you kept the music to just the intro and ending, I tend to listen to audio programs while I'm doing menial tasks and it makes it all the more difficult for me to pay attention to what you're saying.
Overall good stuff though, I'm sure you'll get better at it and I'll keep listening.

Urban's one of those mouth-breather types... the music drowns that out. You sure you want us to take that off? :D

Another good show gentlemen... I especially enjoyed the scathing geek analysis. Scrapheap fun on Bombs: Takahashi: Atm you're essentially "firing the equivalent of a Ferox"
Dixon: Letting people fire actual Ferox's would be nice... it'd make them almost useful. |
