Edited by: Doug Shaftoe on 07/07/2007 12:24:47 Edited by: Doug Shaftoe on 07/07/2007 12:24:20 I apologise if there are threads on this, but evesearch did not turn up any. I've found some odd behaviour when trying to fit sensor boosters, in this example to a Vulture.
My Vulture's unmodified max targeting range is just under 94km.
If I hover the mouse cursor over a Sensor Booster I in my hangar while the Fitting window is open, the Scan Resolution and Max Targeting Range attributes turn yellow and increase (from 243 to 365, and from 93750m to 140625m respectively), as they should do.
But, if I actually fit this module and make it active, those attributes remain at their original values.
I tried this in space.
I fitted the sensor booster but left it inactive, and got 99km away from something. I could not lock onto it, as expected.
Then I activated the sensor booster. I should then easily have been able to lock onto the same thing at that range but could not.
What is going on here? I have tried this with an Iteron and the same behaviour was exhibited.

I tried it with a few types of booster and got the same result. Also deleted my prefs to no effect.

Edited by: Unaralas on 07/07/2007 12:48:15 You can open the fittings window in space. Press ctrl-shift-f, turn the sensor booster on, and see what happens?
Also, they work fine for me.

I did not have anything else fitted at all when I was testing this.

In space, activate booster, right click on your ship/show info. What does it say for targeting range. Also check the speed of target aquisition against a target with booster off and on. Mine work just fine.

Yep, did that and it indicates the booster is not having any effect. The attributes are the same with the booster on as with the booster off. Also the lock time is identical as far as I can tell.

I have relogged a number of times since I started this topic. I guess a bug report is in order then.

When you put your mouse over the mod, it shows you what your stats would be with the mod online, and when u fitt it or move the mouse away, it goes back to normal, or is it something else thats happenin here ? --------------------

Sensor Booster I. I also tried a Prototype I Sensor Booster.
If it was a different module type altogether, why would it show as boosting targeting range and scan resolution? Remote sensor booster, I ask you... *sigh*

It sounds like you don't understand.
When I move the mouse over the module before fitting (while it's still in my hangar and the Fitting window is open), the stats it affects get highlighted in yellow and change to what they would be if I fitted it.
When I ACTUALLY fit it, the stats do not change and remain at their original values.
And yes, I made sure it's online.

this made me lol
how were you attempting to target whatever it was you were? ctrl + click or little lock icon in selected item? if it was the second one try reclicking whatever it was you were trying to target. might work, might not
also, try ctrl + clicking it, that should be a simple way to bypass everything I said and make it easy to find out if it really is not working or its just a display bug.

Edited by: Doug Shaftoe on 07/07/2007 18:56:23 I'm sure it's working. I had it my head it was a passive module; I never even tried to activate it.
Even before I posted I was thinking "this is so wierd, if something like sensor boosters weren't working, surely loads of people would be shouting about it."

There IS a passive version of this module. They go into lowslots and are named signal amplifiers
