With which drones is it best to equip a Vagabond?
How would different tactics/situations affect your decision?

I heard Hobgoblin IIs were good, and some say they use Warrior IIs!
Why do people use different drones? Are the differences very small?

The Gallente ones (Hobgoblins, Hamerheads, Ogres) have the highest damage modifier but are the slowest. The Minmatar ones (Warriors, Valkyries, Berserkers) are the fastest but do the least damage. Damage types also play a large role; Gallente do thermal damage while Minmatar do explosive.
In a Vagabond I'd probably suggest using Warrior IIs because they're very fast. ------------

humm, well... the vaga can dish out various sorts of damage by itself, so i prefer toy drones; sometimes i even pack a single web drone (25m¦) and just go hunting with an afterburner -

Ill have to go with the general consensus and recommend Warrior 2's. I dont fly vagas myself, but the whole point behind them is being really fast so you dont want sluggish drones that might slow you down while dealing with them. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

is that a joke? I can see putting a web drone in there but an afterburner on a vaga? I am pretty sure 6 faeries die every time you speak such blasphemy

Actually only Barrage ammo has enough range for the Vaga to work efficiently. Barrage damage type is 55% explosive, 45% kinetic. The ammo has +50% falloff range, and combined with the Vaga +40% falloff range bonus (at HAC level 4) and a couple of falloff rigs, its basically the ammo to use for the Vagabond.
Shame heavy nos has 25 km range, otherwise the Vaga would be fun. Its still usable, but you need a medium nos to fuel your warp disruptor, and then you need to be close for it to work.
Maybe the nos nerf will make heavy nos leave some cap in your system, allowing the vaga to be effective at 20-25 km.

there's more to eve-life than just _the_ super-duper-damage-dealing stuff... besides, when you know you're not the biggest fish in the pond, you begin to fight (way) more efficiently: not some boring 15km orbit but scratching 11km and pounding the enemy with phased plasma - and thus effectively more damage than the lazy barrage guy who's throwing away the extra range by sitting at 15+ -

In answer to the drone question, definitely ECMs.
