You can only use 10 light drones and the ship doesn't get the bonus to drone damage like the normal vexor does. ------------

Nope, you can fit 10 medium drones, as you can see here. You do get more damage with the 10 drones from the Guardian Vexor as opposed to the 5 from a normal Vexor.
