What do you think is the best t1 frig for pvp? Why? And what kind of setups would you use on it?

the best T1 frig for pvp (nonfaction) would be a autocannonpunisher or a rifter.
punisher. 3 200mm autos 1 knave nos 0/1 web 0/1 AB 1 warp scram 1 small armor rep (use T2 here, easy to train for) 2 EANM 1 CPR
Rifter. 3 200mm autos. 1 knave NOS 1 MWD 1 WEB 1 7,5km scram 1 T2 rep 1 gyro 1 istab
these are the two best T1 frigs for pvp in the game. upgrade to T2 where ever you can exept for the NOS. use dim nos there if you can afford it. Playing minmatar is "like going down a flight of stairs in a office chair firing an Uzi". |

Rocket Kessie
4x Rocket Launcher II (remember the Javelin rockets!) Medium Shield Extender 20 km scram AB Micro Aux power core Ballistic control system
It's a bit fat and slow... and also requires decent fitting skills. But you can pump out decent DPS up to Jav rocket range - 25 km with decent skills. The MSE, especially a MSE II, makes a decent passive tank, and you're also nos-proof.

Yeah a Kessie is slow and is gonna die real fast cause its a flying piece of tinfoil. At least the rifter has speed and the pilgrim has resists.

On the rifter, drop the gyro and istab, add a MAPC and 400mm tungsten and you now have 1700+ armor. You will have to drop the Nos for a Rocket Launcher though.
For the Kessy, add MAPCs and fit a MWD. With a Warp Disruptor II, you can orbit outside of 20km; which is outside most gun ranges. --------------- This sig has been censored in fear of recieving the ban hammer... |

kessie might suprise you with its speed. You fit it for gank with mwd and rockets and it does 200 dps! granted it will die fast but what can you expect from a gank frigat?

Without that NOS you will loose quite a few targets, 200mm plate instead of i-stab can work, maybe if you drop down to 150mm's and cry about the 4% less damage you will manage NOS and plate.

the nos is for running atleast the scram even if you are under a heavy nos. and the i-stab make it much easier to orbit close and fast enough to dodge cruiser sized guns. Playing minmatar is "like going down a flight of stairs in a office chair firing an Uzi". |

Right - everyone can spam me for quoting quickfit, but i can't find the link to Ryysa's dps spreadsheet.
I just fitted up a kessy on one of my other chars (5.5mil in MLO, inc rockets 5 and rock spec 4) - loaded 4 RL II's on it with Thorn rage rockets and 2xBCS II's. Aginst a default rifter, it does 54dps.
Where are you pulling 200dps from.
Also, the majority of my corp flew kestrels in the corps infancy - my rifter/incursus never even struggled once with a kessy in corp tourney's. I have much more respect for the merlin personally... just cant see the appeal in the kessy.

With Frigate V the Kessie does alot of damage with missles, and Merlin has nice resists.

It doesn't do 200 dps but it does over 100 when set up for gank at up to 10km.
Funny you should mention a corp tourney because kessies dominated mine. But not with rockets, with light missiles hitting out up to 30km for full damage they are deadly.
And with an MSE it is extremely survivable.

Edited by: Maeltstome on 09/07/2007 02:51:49 I dont evens e how you can hit 100dps - that was with frigate 5. Rage rockets, 2x BCS II - what else could i possible put on to make it do more damage?
Also, hwo do you fit an MSE on a 4x standard kessy. Incursus with no tank and an MWD would be able to beat it (and has).
With 2x MAPC's ofc - duh :D

I meant raw dps, I'm not sure what number you're looking at because when I run a kessie with those mods in QF it gives me 159 raw dps with max skills, no implants.
And yeah that fit is with two MAPCs. Our tourney was a free for all where we would warp in at any range meaning the kestrels were free to snipe from a distance. In a short range 1 on 1 it wouldn't work as well, but then rockets + MSE + 1 BCU is solid.
I've used the MWD + small extender speed tanked setups for a while, and while they work as fast tacklers that do good damage in gang my life expectancy was "until I get locked". It really needs the MSE to work.

ah, free for all - thats different :)
In that case i'd have gone with a rifter and
3x 250's t1 mwd, cap recharger II, sensor damp 2x overdrive II, cap power relay
Good luck killing that in a standard kessie ^_^
