I did 25 jumps in lowsec looking for a research slot, everything had 4 days waiting time or more. I could set up a pos but I dont have enough standings, though I'm slwoly grinding my way there.....but it will still take ages.
If, the requirements for empire posses were lower people could build their own research posses and what not.

having a free slot in high sec is not a CCP given right, it's a privlage. You want to have your own research slots, then work for it, either run missions to get standing or use one of the corp building services or just go low sec and put up a pos without hard work.
If i post something smart it represent my corp and alliance all other posts are my feeling/ideas only and do not represnt the rest |

1. I am working on it.(it will still take ages) 2. 0.4 still require +4 standings. 3. Pos in 0.0 = alliance cap fleet destroying pos.
To say that slots in high sec is not a 'given right' is like saying docking space is not a given right. Fact is, the playerbase has increased heavily without CCP introducing more labs.

Not entirely true - there are an unlimited number of ships that can dock anywhere at a given time. And research slots are not the same type of station service that fitting or medical facilities are.

You do make a good point - whether this is by design to encourage more player interaction regarding science and industry or something they intend on fixing or moving over to a dynamic system is different however, and I would say that it might be a good idea to research the economic impact of adding more research/copying slots. ironic. the player base has increased. that is true. but whats this about CCP not adding anymore labslots? i mean, whats the POS thing all about? much like the t2 lotto CCP wanted to move away from the 'first come first served' or 'he who is luckiest' type of deal and gives you unlimited lab slots. All you have to do is work a little for it.
So yea, player base increased and CCP responded by giving us the POS option. Sure it cost a bit but nothing in life is free

Your problem is why people like me exist. We've already done all the grinding, have the standing to put a POS wherever you like, and all you need to do is come up with the ISK to make it worth our while to deploy a POS in highsec for you.
It takes a week or so for the corporate standings to balance out, then voila! You have a POS in empire space.
Send me an EVEmail, and we can discuss a contract.

If Im not mistaken, there are a limited number of moons. So lab poses are no more scalable with the population than station labslots, really, its just that theyre currently underutilized as its not at all economical for a lot of blueprint research (part time builders with a stash of BPOs for modules, ammo, etc).
Also I would assert that the current lab situation *is* a 'first come first serve' 'he who is lucky' etc situation, because all the older players who already did a lot of research when it was easier dont have to fool with the log ass queues and thus win out. Maybe theyll double the slots again with the next patch, they should do it periodically to keep somewhat in line with population. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

I've seen several corps whose business model revolves around renting out lab slots.
Please don't say that this is a CCP issue. Granted there are limited moons, but there are just that many high sec systems. Sec status is your own problem, thats like whining that getting carrier skills takes too long. Its there, it works.
Worse comes to worse you join a corp which has the facilities.

Out of curiosity, how much would lab rent be on a hi sec pos? and hth do u make it work? they give u collateral in the amount of the bpo?
So if say i have a 30 mill isk bpo i want to research, i trade it to labguy, he gives me 30 mill, researches it to desired ME/PE and then trades it back to me for the agreed upon sum + collateral?
CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!! Magners is now recruiting, evemail me or Dagazbo ingame.

Allow Empire POS holders to rent out labs to public without this alliance business, sort out copying so the copies get put in the station not the lab. Result potentially a major increase in the number of lab slots available to the public.

There are 1126 high security systems, each with several planets and each planet with up to 20 or so moons. It'll take a while for that limit to be reached... =AFK=

Not completely correct: it is not possible to anchor pos in 1.0 or 0.9 systems.
Probably the cost and standing limits will still keep the number of POS well under the number of potential installations, but if you think that there are around 10.000 ME and copy slots in high sec (very rough estimate based on number of system and frequency of stations with research slots), and probably as much in low sec, and they are constantly filled, adding 5000 POS with 1 copy slot and 3 ME slots each will not completely cover the existing demand, even less the future requests, in particular with the heavy request for copies for invention.

Since the inside POS' are defenseless you should only need the actual tickets to throw one up, at your own peril.

Of course, my mistake. That still leaves 986 systems with a security rating of 0.5 to 0.8 though.

It shouldn't be a problem. If demand increases, prices will rise and the cost - if it is too high now - will be more acceptable.

A POS can run more than 1 lab at the time. (I guess it depends on how much defence you'd want on it.) Also that number of POSses probably is a bit on the low side. The average number of moons per system is well above 5. =AFK=

Small Gallente Tower can run 3 mobile slots - so even with those that trebles your estimate

Wrong again .. max sec rating is 0.7 .. so that leaves like 876 systems ... Houston we got a problem

OMG I really should get to know more about high sec POSses. Still there's plenty of moons to anchor POSses at left. I might get one for myself

Ummm... No! If everyone else who has a POS in empire space can do it so can you. I just wish CCP would open up 0.8+ systems as well although having a 10.0 standing would take some time. ----------------------------------------------- Why do I post here?

If you want a high sec tower then you gotta put in the work for one. It does not take too long if you do it the correct way. Plus like it has been stated, if you do not want to work for the faction then you can always pay someone who has put in the work and have them put it up for you.
